*Long-Term Shutdown*

Post by BaronVonRotterdam » Tue Jan 10, 2012 11:45 pm

Hello Everyone,

It is with great displeasure that today I officially let you know the BF3 server will be shutting down at the end of this month. There are multiple reasons for this:

1.) There are 100,000 players who play BF3 and there are over 5x as many servers than players. This is the main reason we were never full.

2.) The game is still in it's infancy. Everyone is still experimenting with the game and trying out new things. We won't find a dedicated Karkand community for a period of time.

3.) It is expensive paying $70 a month for a server that is pretty much always empty. Also with talks about America going to war with Iran gas prices are rising steadily and with that so will food. An empty BF3 server simply isn't in my budget.

4.) Player's only like to play on full servers. We have quite a fanbase for our server but no one likes to join and spend hours getting a game going. For that reason the server will be perpetually empty.

There are other reasons of course but these are the main 4. Our community hosts two other top ranked game servers that have done and continue to do very well. We have historically started these servers a year or more after the game debuted which allowed the community to figure out what they liked to play the most, and for patches to be released which in turn would grow the player base. In short if all goes as planned I plan on restarting the BF3 server a year or two from now after the game stabilizes.

Best Regards,
