Why Nvidia is superior atleast to me

Post by BaronVonRotterdam » Sun Mar 27, 2011 1:56 pm

When I got my GTX 480 SLI a few months ago I ran the Crysis benchmark and here are the results I got:

11/24/2010 12:16:03 PM - Vista 64

Run #1- DX10 1680x1050 AA=16xQ, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Last Average FPS: 41.47

===========

Now just a few short months later I am running this same benchmark with the same hardware except on a larger screen. You would think that I would get less FPS because I'm using a higher resolution right?

Run #1- DX10 1920x1080 AA=16xQ, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 47.59

How is this possible? Nvidia's superior drivers. I am not sure what they did, but my cards are doing better at a higher resolution when they should be doing worse. I love Nvidia =)

Now for shit's and giggles I ran the benchmark again but this time at my old 1680x1050 resolution so I could compare driver performance between now and back in November.

Run #1- DX10 1680x1050 AA=16xQ, 64 bit test, Quality: VeryHigh ~~ Overall Average FPS: 51.61

After 4 months of driver maturity I now get 10.14 more fps which is phenomenal. That is the kind of performance you would see if you overclocked and I am still at stock all of this time. This is absolutely incredible.
