ok, think this here is the right place to answer a question allways asked on the server:

Q1: "what is a wand"?
A1: well my dictionary says something like wand="magic stick", here its not
a "stick", its a weapon, lookin like a golden/brown shockrifle (do not know
how to describe the colour), but with "more" power than an ASMD-
supershock-rifle (for those who only played ut99 and now coming here) or
like many know, shortly called "insta-gib", others say ssr (super-shock-
rifle).

now you may ask

Q2: why "more" power than an insta-gib, isnt insta-gib = 1 shot-kill?
A2: well, lets explain that this way:
you are playing on a (uber-)godlike invasion-server, so, some godlike
monsters need sometimes more than an insta-gib to be killed :-) and even
when players using the "Magic Wand" it needs sometimes morethan
1 shot...

Q3: so, how do i get a "wand"?
A3: 4 ways:

1. use a weapon-summon-pu and with a 1-time-per-month-luck u will get one

2. weaponcrate. ("item" lookin like wooden crate) if its opened with the
crowbar ("item" lookin like that) then magic wand and many other more or
less good weapons are in it and can be shared..(its said some players who
only look for highscores kept both till last wave and opened it when most
or all are dead so he didnt need to share the weps then... , or keeping one
of the pus and not announcing so it cant be opened, in the fear someone
could get better highscore...)

3. spelling wand. wtf? you think i dont know how to spell it? "W-A-N-D"
:idea: right. there are four "items", looking like "letters" :-)
when one player has all letters collected, he can "spell" WAND (by using
the "use-key" on letter "W")

4. admins. i miss the days when they were allways in good mood and give
us all nearly 2-3 times per week a nice wand-party...

Q4: do monsters have wands?
A4: :shock: YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!! :shock:

Q5: is that bad?

Q6: oh. is it possible to stay allive when a "wand" hits me?
A6: yes. there exist "insta-shield-pus". you need to load two to be 100%
save from "insta"-(wand)-beams. i dunno if its correct but i guess with one
insta-shield you can keep 1 insta-hit, your health will go down, and the
second hit will kill you, but i think this is depending on other weponloads
(reflecting-pu´s) and your level and skills (damage-reduction).
insta-shield-pu´s do not help you when monsters use laser-rifle or
turbolaser. if you dont find these pu´s (rare), use reflecting-pu´s, the
more, the better, but, anyways, even with 5 reflecting-pu´s you can be
killed by wands. reflecting means they (normally should) reflect all
types of "beam-weapons": wand, turbolaser, laserrifle. but its not 100%
looks like monsters have sometimes "piercing" on their weps, which
means they can shoot through your reflecting shield, but not with 100% damage, a bit lowered, just my experience

Q7: when monsters have "wand", are they easy to kill?
A7: depends on what monster has it and many other things, like, what weapon do YOU have, your level etc...

if its "Mr. Smith" with a wand, he (normally) needs not mutch hits to be
killed, problem is, he can move fast! even with his slow firerate he can
eliminate the complete team (see picture in A5)

if its a soldier with wand, fast movements and not easy to kill, with a
"splashdamage"-weapon, like a rocketlauncher with two spreads or clusters
should kill it fast. not easy to kill with "beam"-weapons when having high
ping! stronger than smith.

if its a supersoldier with wand.... good luck. can only be killed with
translocator!!!! (note: all supersoldiers (soldiers standing still at one place
and never moving (well, rotating at this point, shooting in all directions...),
lookin like "beeing bugged") can only be killed with translocator! it not a
bug!)

if its the red coloured "luci/luzi(fer)" with wand, well, strong, faster
firemode, but moves slowly, so you can try to hit and kill him by running
in circles around him and shoot him in the back, if YOU are fast enough
(speed5, superspeed or adrenspeedcombo recommended or if you are a
good dodger)

if its that "half-camel" with the (ok, with a bit fantasize) yoda-lookin-like
jockey which holds the wand, strong, moving a bit faster than luzi, while
"jockey" has very fast reactions, sometimes it looks for me this one can
look through walls and knows when YOU come around the corner...

the strongness of the last two depending on your and other players level.


Q8: looks like its not easy for noobs, should i give it a try or is it better
i go play with my barbie-dolls?
A8: if you hate "playing" =long time= in >spec-mode< (cause of beeing
easy/fast killed all the time and need to spec then) till you are level...
...well...lets say 100, (some say they can do it in one day) you better go
play with your dolls.... again, its more than a godlike server!
(btw, the creator of this text is an "old" woman never liked to play with dolls...)

Q9: uhm... ok, i have seen Mr. Smith in the A5-picture, how do the others
look like?
A9: INCOMING!

Q10: anything else i need to know about monsters with wands?
A10: hmm... some are cowards, and send one in front, but its covererd nearly unseen by another one in the back. or they are covered in groups of other strong monsters

Q11: looks cool, any more pics/anims how the wand-beam looks like?
A11: here it is

*note* if you dont see the animated gifs (and you want to see it) you need to go to browsersettings and enable "show anims on websites" or something like that, dunno whats it called in the english version.

if you still dont see it you maybe changed the forum-skins, some said, its needed to be changed to standard-skin to be able to see them, whatever the problem is why its not shown with other forumskins, but i guess thats paints job to explain :-)

Wands are no longer a summons item.

really? hmm... thats why i have never seen any wands last weeks, except from crate. i thought i play that rare so i allways miss the one who had this luck... just wonder why there are some players allways saying something like "its possible to get wand from summon, but its pretty rare and happens only one time per day" or something like that.... and when u ask "did you see anyone with a summoned wandlast time" they say "yes", but when you ask who and when, then they cant answer, .......i really wonder about that...

ok. now we have a problem: i remember now two maps someone had a wand. in both there was NO busted weaponcrate-message, noone knowed about an opend one, and the message wasnt in log-file (the "half-screen"-console-"log"-file). and both times i/some asked if they summoned it and didnt get any response. i had not much time last to play and i´m to busy with work to remember who it was. so, two ways ( is till told them):

1. there is a way (or bug) to open weaponcrate without showing message.
2. summon still workin, but maybe with chance 1:1000 now...

would be nice to know
