ban apeal [Resolved]

Hi i was recently playing on the monster madness server when i was kicked. I came back into the server and asked why, i was told that i did not listien to a admin and that i was typeing in caps. I had not seen that a admin told me to turn them off because i was busy trying to to die, and i did not see i was typeing in caps because for some reason i see everyones chat in caps so i cannot tell the difference. I turned my caps lock off and before i could type why i had them on and dint listien to the admin i was perma-baned. Please unban me, the only reason i bought ut04 was to play on this server. Thanks to the admins for reading this.

ehh.. possibly a player was the admin... since its ur first ban.. sit tight for a week. then ur free to play again

The thing is that if it was just a week i would not have posted but when the ban was issued on the top of the message saying i was banned it said "you have been permanetly banned from playing on this server"

All bans say that. There isn't an option available to the admins to put in a reason for the banning.

Even when you're kicked by admin it will say you've been banned.

Ok thanks zombieslayer I dint know that, so that this dosent happen again dose anyone know why i see everyone's chat in caps, is it a setting that i can turn on/off ?

That's a good question Pacman, unforunately it is not one which I can answer, as I have never encountered this myself, nor have I ever heard of anything like this before. ZS any suggestions?

if all appears in capsed letters, ut is running in a window or in a not really good choosen customized screenresolution instead of using a standard-fullscreenmode like 800x600 or 1024x768 or....

try it, start it in a window and resize it manually...
as far i know there is no writeallincaps=yes - mode in ut. maybe its a font or fontsize-problem, that i not tested if its possible to change....or maybe the chatfontsize (ut-settings->HUD) is "wrong", depending on what screenresolution you use

anyways i dunno why your pc is allways in caps-mode! even my lowest-prize-keyboard has a on/off-light for that...

I seem to remember having this problem of seeing all text in caps, many moons ago on a old laptop, when i lowered resolution to improve performance all text was caps and i was warned for caps in a server. If my memory serves me it was 800x600 that caused the issue. And increasing res allowed for lower and upper case.

This was a long time ago, so i could be wrong.

I've personally have never had, seen, or heard of this issue...not even once. :-k Nor am I aware of any reason why another player would be seeing everyone else's text in Caps if they're in fact not typing in Caps. Since it's doubtful that an admin is going to kick or punish some for doing something that everyone else is doing...you shouldn't have been kicked.

Either way, simply stop doing caps in text chat and let them know that you have done so and will stop doing so. If they still kick you, bring the issue up here as you've done, but I would advise you in the future to supply the admin name and approx. date and time that this took place.

As far as I know, the admin who kicked you hasn't mentioned anything or posted a response to your kick or ban. Here is a thought, have you tried getting on the server to see if you were simply kicked or were in fact banned??

Just so everyone is aware of who the server admins are, I'll post a thread with that information...just in case there is any question

edited: if you play ut in windows-mode and pull left or right length of window you will suddenly see all written non-capsed text in capsed when its a wrong/bad windowsformat EVEN WHEN IT WAS TYPED NON-CAPPSED BY YOU OR ANOTHER PLAYER!!!!

depends... the "player x please turn your caps-lock off" is for me more a joke than a reason to kick someone, but i recogniced some admins are a bit pissed when players dont pay attention, doesnt matter if its a joke or serious! in that case he was kicked because of not paying attention after some callings from players and admin...
i think reason to kick for cappsed text is a bit ... w/e.

suggestion: unbann(if he is banned), spawn him a wand next time you see him and close this be4 it ends in drama!
