Usually..if I'm joking around with someone in game chat...if I get the slightest feeling they are/or took it seriously..I'll let them know I'm kidding. Of course there are some regulars that know when you're kidding..and you don't have to announce it...sorta like this.....

plain text doesn't really convey alot of emotion...so people try to interpret it's "feeling" by the literal text. To avoid "Assumed Drama"...smilies could help many people avoid that assumption.. 8)
