a bit of an old article (holy $%!^ 1997 is already old, ewww....pokes 1997 with stick [10 monster madness creds to the one who names my favorite 1998 game of the year!]), but i just ran across it and it seems like a pretty awesome idea if they found cheaper materials for commercial development. so enough of my ramblings heres the DOE article and the wiki link:
