with money that should have gone to books and things of that nature, I bought myself a sweet 24inch panel before heading off to school this semester. 1920x1200. Whose sole purpose is for HD anime...and maybe other more 'mainstream' movies, maybe (although i did hear great things about the dark knight). It is true once you see something that was made for and shown in a 1080p resolution, most everything else looks second rate imho. It plays ut2004 pretty well too cake.
I don't have a camera to show how this behemoth doesn't fit under the shelving unit center of my desk (its angled to the side left of the stupid shelf, which i'm too lazy to remove since it requires a hex drive which i surprisingly didn't bring

I run Ubuntu 8.10 on this machine, the window manager is Compiz running on Gnome
Compiz takes up a bit resources, for games I took IIO's advice and run ut2004 on a seperate X screen and suspend running apps on my main one
