Runtime error C++ Mircosoft visual c
...does anyone know this errormessage after installing a new gfx-card, and trying to start games and EVERY game now starts with that errormessage??? (no errornumber, like the 2 "mostknown" r6002 or r6025...)
all other programms which not really have to do all too much with gfx-intensive functions run well, screenresolultions doesnt matter, can use high/mid/low-settings (windows-settings i mean) all works. like i said, when i try to start any game, errormessage appears (or some only flash the screen and didnt start anything with no errormessage)....
all new drivers used after deinstalling all old crap etc and what is neccessary to do! tried many older driver(s) cause the newer often doesnt work, but evrytime the same problem with that runtime error.
strange thing is, when using the old gfx-card, all is running normal again without any problem :-/
any suggestions except deinstal/reinstall? (why should i deinstall 20 games which works fine only because they now dont run with a new gfx-card, makes no sense, or?)
i know i can google, but there are 1million17 solutions for every single runtime-error-problem, like a problem with this or that, and you try this or that and it maybe works for this or that, but i didnt found anything like "after installing new card EVERY game didnt work"... if i try single solutions for some of the installed games, every thing failed. so i only can guess its a gfx-card problem or maybe not really good workin with the board.
3200 amd athlon on a abit-nf7-s, 2 gig corsair ram, 2x300gig samsung hd, old gfx ati 9600 pro (agp), new gfx ati 2600 (agp-version)....
till now every available ati-driver from version6.x till 8.xx tested ....
nforce-chipset-drivers latest version used
abit-bios last available (made 2005....no support anymore, looks like)
not sure, some names maybe others in the u.s. ....

Let me ask this Amy....What size is your power supply? With that card, you should be running at least a 550w. If your power supply is lacking, this could be the culrpit.
Things you can check in the mean time.....
1. Make sure that in the BIOS that the onboard graphics is turned off and the AGP is dedicated.
2. Reinstall the DIRECT X drivers.
3. Check mobo for possible blown capacitors.
4. Make sure you have adaquate airflow/cooling in your case. ATI cards generally run very hot.
Something tells me though that it's the PSU that your using. The reason I say that is your games ran fine with your older card. Newer cards generally require more power hence...a bigger PSU.

750w, but like its said its not depending on how much power its has (300w 400w 600w 1000w....) it should have enough power on the "wires" where its needed....be sure this is not the problem (btw i didnt found any site which says a windows runtime error is the result of a bad power supply.. "normally" it should shut down completely or the blue guru screen appears....)Archangel wrote:....What size is your power supply? With that card, you should be running at least a 550w..
no onboard gfx on that old rig, agp is selectedArchangel wrote: 1. Make sure that in the BIOS that the onboard graphics is turned off and the AGP is dedicated...
gotcha... i forgot to write this was done too, and it doesnt matter if its directx9b, 9c, or the directx9c[month]-drivers..(i dunno if there is really a difference between directx9c-july or directx9c-august or if this is just to show its still "actual")Archangel wrote: 2. ...
you mean if something "smells" wrong on the board or "exploded" cap´s?Archangel wrote: 3. Check mobo for possible blown capacitors.
doesnt look like, the question now would be why is it running normal with the old gfx (ok it doesnt need that much power...)
this thermaltake-tower has more vents than a squirrel has fingers....if it starts to run you think you are in ferrari´s windtunnel to check aerodynamics of their cars....Archangel wrote: 4. Make sure you have adaquate airflow/cooling in your case. ATI cards generally run very hot.
anyways this is one thing noone checked, if the card gets too hot...
but even here the question, if its too hot, shouldnt it shut down or beep or whatever, and not result allways in a runtime error when i start a game?
ty, we make another test now, when we are ready i bring the results here...Archangel wrote: Something tells me though that it's the PSU that your using. The reason I say that is your games ran fine with your older card. Newer cards generally require more power hence...a bigger PSU.

so true....Archangel wrote:Well, if the PSU is good, then it might be the new GFX card......it does happen sometimes.
they tested many hours, its easy to make a new install and try to dont waste time with searching for errors... but if the result is the same...
so old image backup and other tests...
changed sequence when what to install first, many suggested which could be reason... well, the last result was odd...
ut2k4 now was the only game with that runtime error. every other game now didnt start, "black screen of death" (black screen and sometimes a milisecond flashback to desktop, but no way to return, only reset possible) or brought other errormessages we didnt had before.
only two games now started, ut99 and "sauerbraten", a free downloadable egoshooter, fast like ut99 and a bit a mix between quake and ut99, why they NOW start and be playable with no problem, dunno...
after recognicing all tries failed they just installed to test a nvidia 7900gs512... and dang,,,, all works now....he didnt want to make other tests and said we shouldnt touch this anymore :-)
now this week they want try to run the card in another pc in which is another ati9600 too, before they bring it back to the shop.
i dont believe it works, its the "same" pc, same stuff inside, but well...
who knows...
