The more i read about this, the more it sounds like a pretty cool idea. Personally when i think of something like this...i think something to the effect of the link gun with its limited tracking ability...a decent steady healing rate. But then maybe a few pu's that can be sloted into it.

1. AoE Healing: Slower than the steady beam but able to heal a group of peoplle huddled around you.

2. Sniper Healing: Slow firing with a scope, capable of giving significant amount of health per shot.

3. Apathy. Like awareness, but only shows you the other players and their health with bars like the monsters have.(less sorting through the crowd)

Some versatility like that would make it almost like a seperate class, also something different for those who arnt as worried about the exp anymore. Would be cool though if a good medic could score high on the charts though(also would create a seperate xp pool so there is a bit mroe to go around) Just my 2 cents

But I have been working on a gun and I think this should be the medic gun... btw it will be in new patch (if everything goes well)

installation is self explanitory. whats in the textures folder goes in your textures folder.... when everything is installed go to your mutators list in instant action add the XM8 and try it. it will replace the assault rifle so make sure no other mutator is fighting over that spot.
has anyone actually downloaded and tried this?

did. looks nice, but what does it do? left/right-mousebutton doing same, cant heal players (tried inv with bots), the weapon-picture is missed in weapon-hud.
firerate is ok, and it looks like it makes heavy damage, other weps needed long to kill monsters, this one is more one/two-shot-kill. sound is ok.

hmmm.. link gun can connect to other links, and in dm it can "connect" to enemy players and "lockdown" them, same effect like with mini-gun-lockdown in ut99 and ut2k3, disabled in ut2k4 (but can be enabled).
i like the idea a tripple-healthbeam to more players around me, would be more easy to heal them, esp. when they have no sturdy or permanently need to jump and run away (and die cause of no health...)
it should not lockdown them so they cant move anymore.

think standard sniper-firerate would be ok, 25-50health per shot should be ok.

i think the last isnt easy to do, an extra-hud with low-health-players shown. would be cool with red-alert sign when someones health is lower 100...

2 separate scores, those who kill monsters and those who heal others? nice idea, but this looks a bit like medic only, and no way to kill monsters.
it should stay as teamwork, and not
monsters vs. monsterkillers vs. monsterkillerhealer.
btw, medics loose! why? those who should be healed run away from you with superspeed, kill monsters and earn exps, you cant heal him cause out of sight, no heal, no exp.
if you play with many highlevlers who have high vamp, teamvamp, regeneration-levels then you loose too....

wish a medic would get a medic-skin, or a cap or armlet...

I was thinking, maybe medics should get an artifact that looks like the team shield (the sphere thing) that others can run into and slowly regain health and it gives the medic xp for its healing. And there can only be like one sphere for each medic or maybe even 2, but this would give the option of AoE healing and it can be placed and people can get to it even if a medic isn't near by (they just have to know that its there).

Also, maybe make the radar with its blue dots (thats us) go red when someone is at 25% health or less and some other color to show people who are under 50% (yellow can't be used since monsters used that, orange looks similar to yellow sometimes and a medic might not be able to tell difference right then, black might work, dark green also might work.)
Sometimes a crazy move is the best move.
