Have you changed your screen resolution setting to see if it made a difference?

Yes, I have gone through the tweaks.. Some of them are nice, but ultimately I don't think will affect me because I don't have any graphics-related issues, nor do I have frame-rate problems that merit me turning down my resolution at all. I think I have a pretty decent system for UT2k4, and I can get a pretty good frame rate even when things get crazy on this server. Changing resolution will do nothing because I don't have frame-rate issues.

Please read my issues carefully--
My problem is that, my character freezes in mid-air like I've been hit with null-entropy while the action around me, FRAMERATE, AND ALL PLAYERS, AND MONSTERS continue unaffected! I can even shoot and kill things while floating in mid-air (so I think its not net-lag) and I can even translocate in place!

To perfectly emulate my problem, shoot yourself with a Null-Entropy gun in-game. Notice you can move your character in place but you cannot walk. Now try to trans-locate. You're STILL frozen, but you can move and kill until the null-entropy wears off! THAT is the issue that I'm having. Problem is, NOTHING IS HITTING ME. This happens in-game, on ANY server in ANY game-type!

This sounds like a router or a modem issue issue. What kind do you have? Have looked for updates for that modem or router?

well...sorry to say that but welcome "in my world"... i have exactly same problem for long time, and i cant do nothing against it. you are right
null entro or freeze have the same effects, you stay still at one point, can look around, you can trans, but not walk.

all i can do is watch the connection from me to server with a trace-programm to see if there are some problems, and all to often at one "hop" (or in other word somethig like a "pathnode" from one server to next server between you and the gameserver) it looks like it has troubles or is overload or w/e.

for me as an european player laaag is combined with high ping and some nearbyeffects like looks a bit like sync is lost for a moment, sometimes i have the opposite thing, can hear action around me, i can go to every place in a map incl. using transporters, but i dont see the action which should match with what i hear, example i hear a wand in front of me, killing a teammate (you hear sound "aaaaaaaaaaa" when someone resurect) but you dont see both of them..after some seconds im returning ingame but not on place i was last, i was set to a point where server thinks i should need to be. or when i suicide or get killed and spawn next round it runs normal.

im using windows-"console" and programm called "tracert" to check connection. normally when all runs fine i have 16 "hops" between me and mm-server.
looks like following:
Image

but sometimes, even with "only" 16 hops (looks like it allways 16 in best case) it can be sometimes pings goes up between at one (or more) hop(s), but others still look fine. like following, troubles on two hops:
one in my land (and most time when i have troubles its between 6/7. hop between munich-frankfurt) and one "near" the server, hop number 16, "core1.troy1.waveform.net", which most time looks like havin trouble or high ping when i have problems when playing:

Image

i have no screenshot in moment when it comes to "superlag" situations, when hops start to raise and i see 24-27 hops between me and mm-server. sometimes its like a dead-end. it ends at a hop with troubles, it goes back to hop before, then trying to find another way and in really bad situations i can see 2 or 3 times going back or to other nodes which are normally not displayed under best conditions.

now i try to explain cj-blasts explanation, about why it can be american
players have massive laaags, but i can still play un-affected with my nearly regularly high ping. if american players are living in an "affected area" and are crying about laaag and try to accuse other highpinged non-us-players like me to be reason for their lags, but i or other players in non-affected area(s) still have "no lag here, all runs well" it maybe looks like in the following png-pic (why no pdf possible here?) i tried to make. if i remember right cj´s words like this "normally if you try to connect to a server it goes the shortest way. if there is an area which makes trouble and servers dont run well or are overloaded, players within that area allways have lag, players outside the area notice maybe less lag cause their connection try to bypass the area and find a much better route, even with a bit higher they can play more lagfree and still dont affect other players!"
(amys and others wise peoples note* except you are really a laaager with ultrahighping cause of your own networkproblems which can affect server and other players!)
but here the pic, if my description is "toooo high"...(german phrase) :-)

hope this helps a bit....

i love amy's creative ways to illustrate or show things, hehe, good job ^,,^

as for sain's precise trouble with that freeze issue..i remember i used to have an issue here and the last invasion server i used to go. i would often times experience a lag moment, then find myself stuck in place, be it where i was running, or even stuck in mid-air. i could still turn and shoot things, but i could not move for a moment. however, if i transed right away, after transing i would be fine until the next occurrence. the past 5 months, i never had that issue again, and i haven't done anything different to my system.

however, with sain, this is a mystery. he isn't much futher from the server as i am geographically...so i must ponder what the heck this could be. he doesn't deserve it v,,v

UPDATE --

Well, I used ZombieSlayer's tweaking guide he discovered. I made very little changes, but the problem seems to have gone away on its own.

One thing I didn't do that Amy Infless pointed out was doing a TRACERT command. It never truly occurred to me, and I ruled out Internet problems as being one of them, being as I NEVER have lag issues on the server (save for the typical lag that joeyz said he has discovered, fix and applying in the upcoming 180 patch).. Mainly because while *I* Freeze in mid-air, I'm STILL able to shoot and attack, grab items, etc with NO issues whatsoever! There's no brief overall *jump* one gets with lag when your 'net connection catches up. Everything remains *LIQUID SMOOTH AND UNINTERRUPTED* ...

But anyway.. The problem seems to have gone away! I'll keep my eyes on things though. Tracert revealed no issues, and I take 14-jumps through tracert before I make it into Joeyz server with an average of 49ms ping, with 61ms as the highest along route.

I should remember to do a tracert next time.. It may have revealed the problem.

Because i have some problems, with inventory desappeared, weapons deseappearing, monsters are phantom to my eyes etc etc, and 4-6 freezes at match over 7-8 secs, and sometimes i got disconnection for 2 times a match.

I paste the last result of traceroute ( equivalent of tracer on windows):

traceroute to 204.11.33.157 (204.11.33.157), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets

How do you think ?

Yes +SaiN+, u have reason. So now i can play even if there is lag, in the end the real problem were the drivers who used beta
