speeding ticket question (insurance and such)

If its your 1st ticket that is a moving violation in the past few years then it might not effect your insurance at all. In most places you only get surcharged if you get more then 1 ticket in a 3 year time frame (not positive about the 3 years, but it's something like that).

If you try to fight it there is a 99.99% chance you will lose. No matter what your argument is it will come down to your word against the cop's and they will always win.

As some posted if the cop doesn't show it might get thrown out but it's a slim chance and what most people don't know is you have to go twice. The first time is just a hearing where you have to talk to some dude in the courts who will either tell you that you are crazy and to pay the ticket or he may give you a deal (cut it in half is pretty common). If you stick to your guns they will then say "fine" and schedule you a day in court to fight it. Then when you go back for the 2nd time if the cop doesn't show it gets tossed out but you end up spending almost 2 full days in court.
