Very well said Nard, I commend you and the others. Very good posts. I am getting those same feelings that you are getting, thats why i was ticked off and shut the server for 4 days which brought the server rating from #6 place to #25 in the world. I really didnt care if i took a hit in the server ratings, it was more worth it to me to wake some people up, as a warning, that this is not a place to hate and fight.
Nard, there are two main reasons why things are happening they they arein the past few months. I and Bert have not been around much to stop the nonsense. Its that saying, "If the cat is away, mice will play." Again, I find myself having to babysit and cant do it 24 hours a day. I recently added more admins to help take the weight. Its also a test, I wanna see which admins are going to be worthy and place the server needs above player and friend needs. I need admins that are dedicated, nuetral, fair and not abusive with powers. If you feel an admin was wrong or harrassing a player, please let me know and I will get to the bottom of it and correct it. But other the other hand, dont waste my time crying about an admin ban you after he warned, explained and kicked ya 3 times. I am adding one more admin, AnneBeaver, she runs other UT servers and has good experience server side.
As for me, I will just tell you guys that I havent changed nor has the server changed, besides adding more admins. I continue to as I always do; make monsters, weapons, powerups, artifacts fun in invasion. I have not had a lot of time lately to get on server. When I do get on, I see a little trouble here and there and give out guidance. I am wondering if some players are just bored with life, having trouble at the home front, and letting it out during the game. Not sure whats wrong with people lately.
Mystic: I too think you guys should lay off Mystic. She has been playing here a year and I would bet my paycheck on that she is not a guy. No guy could be that sensitive LOL. As for you Mystic, you must learn to treat people how you want to be treated. If you call people names well they are going to call you names right back. Sometimes you tell me that you joined server and someone started with you. Could it be that the last time you played, you called someone a name before going to bed? I dont know dawg, you should think it sometime. To get respect, you have to earn it. Can you walk in the City Mall and call someone mean names? Sure you could, but you would get beat up in the parking lot. Please dont do it on the server. Mystic, I thank you for all the maps you make and provide for server players. You have done a lot of hard work. I know your just joking around when you say things but some people may not think so. Remember when I granted your wish and made to temp admin for your birthday, instead of you going on a killing spree, you went on kicking spree, LMAO! Recently, I read your message complaint about an admin harrassing you and I am looking into it. I assure you that if I ever catch an admin being serious and harrassing a player he/she will be history. But if you started smack with an admin, well do you expect a $50 gift card to Sears in return??? Since i have not been around much because i have family from Germany, I installed a Chat Log Monitor. No I will be able to see who is doing what.
POWERUPS: Players really DO NOT have to share weapons and powerups; however, its un-ethical NOT to support other players; dont forget, its red vs blue team. If you don't share weapons and powerups, then other people won't share either. Also remember that keeping low level players alive is critical. Everytime a low level player dies the monster factor goes up.
If anyone has a problem with another player, keep it to yourself, chill out, and use the ignore in UT, thats what its there for. One of the things I noticed was that if someone doesn't like another player, they try to drag other players into it. This is a NO NO and an admin will kick for instigating trouble. Keep that he/she said and talk garbage at the school grounds/neighborhood and not the server. If someone continues to bother another player I shall remove them from server.
If I keep seeing problems in game, I will just kick, ban, remove players or admins and start with a new batch of people. No offense but SERVER SERVER SERVER is my highest priority and i need everyone to understand that. I am a Gamer/Developer, thats my focus. Anything else that takes away 10 min of my coding/operating time is out of my league. I have Game Server to operate and players are depending on me. I depend on you to help by keep peace and play fair. If you like the server, then please stay and play. If not, then find another server.
