Voice-chat in-game

OK Time for me to voice this little beef I mentioned in my earlier post (see http://www.monstermadness.iforumer.com/ ... dness#6835 )

FOR THE LOVE OF BOB STOP WITH YOUR INCESSANT PRATTLING IN THE GAME!!!

If you want to talk about the government, or your kids, or whatever else that is NOT game related, PLEASE take it to Teamspeak, or Skype, or your favorite IM. LEAVE IT THE HELL OUT OF THE GAME!!!

Simply put, most of us are using the voice chat to find/give PUs/weapons/the like. When one of you begins prattling on in voice about something totally unrelated (VAPTOR) it makes it extremely difficult to do this. Which, I honestly think, I have only seen one map won out of the last dozen I have played. That's 5500 XP total lost because you were more concerned with the state of the weather in (insert hometown here) than trying to make sure everyone had what the wanted/needed in order to actually perform decently in/win the map.

Yes, I know, I can just as easily mute people. And I have - last night I muted Vaptor and Blaestein because, even though I asked nicely once and not-so-nicely after that, they kept rambling/talking over people who were speaking of stuff actually related to the game/map we were playing.

To be honest I really hate muting anyone because it makes it harder for me to be a team player and give them powerups they are asking for - which, in the end, might help us all win the game. On the flip side I can't hear them if they tell me they have something I need.

I will be unmuting Blaestein tonight - he's a great guy overall, usually stays on-topic, and is ALWAYS willing to help out with a WoP/PU if he has something you need - so I can't bring myself to keep him muted.

Vaptor is another story. FYI Vaptor, until I see reason to do otherwise, you're staying muted. You might be 22 but you act like you're 12, always being "Mr. Know-It-All" and stroking your own ego with "I taught Joeyz this" and "I taught Joeyz that". That's all well and good, and I have nothing but thanks for you for all the help you might give Joeyz/this server, but (A) we don't need to hear about it EVERY FREAKIN' MAP, and (B) have an ounce of consideration for everyone else chatting instead of worrying about trying to make yourself look good. Give it up - it's not working. I won't name names, but I know I am not the only one that feels this way about you. How about shutting up and playing the game, instead of being so self-important? This *IS* a team game, and (to pound an old cliche) there is no *I* in *TEAM*. If you're so concerned about all the code you've been helping Joeyz with, good - keep coding and helping him out. But STOP PATTING YOURSELF ON THE BACK LONG ENOUGH TO SHOOT SOME ENEMIES!!!

If you anyone thinks I am a Bastard for saying this, you've got me all wrong - I'm an A-HOLE, NOT a Bastard. Bastard's my brother. Unfortunately you haven't met our other brother Woody - he's a real... well, you can guess.

One final note - if you can't stop chatting in-game about stuff not related to the game at hand - DO IT IN TEXT. I know this might be hard because some of you might be illiterate, but at least you will be leaving the voice chat free for those who give two yits about doing what it takes to help each other WIN.

If people want to talk about anything then they have a right to... But when you are constantly talking about shit that no one cares about....then that is another story.

I am not disputing that - I am saying how severely inconsiderate it is of the people who do this to constantly be talking over those who are trying to get/give PUs/Wpns in the game - we can't hear each other because of this irrelevant rambling.

Agreed. And of course there are those that do this, and regardless of how many times we ask them not to, they ignore such requests and keep on with their blah-blah-blah....

I agree with you.

Vaptor, Coke, kurtmasslicker, and someone that says he's a boy but sounds like a little friggin girl (can't remember it's name now) are all highly annoying, never shut up, always bitchin about something, and use some pretty foul language.

The language I don't care about. My mom once said "You can judge the intelligence of the speaker by how often they curse."

So the above 3 are about the dumbest people I've ever met online.

I gave Coke a second chance and have him unmuted...for now but he's getting pretty annoying again.

Vaptor I'm pretty close to just ignore 100% in game at least.

kurtasslicker I ignore 100% until he tries to steal pus being tossed to me by another player. Then it becomes my mission to vote kick the little bitch.

You people that never shut up on voice chat should be kicked for spamming, then banned, then permanently banned (because you can't ever shut up).

I wonder how the hell you get through each day alive? :roll:

However, I must give credit where credit is due - yes, Coke can be HIGHLY annoying at times, but more often than not he's willing to hook me up with a PU I need if he has it - which is more than I can say for others.

Coke P/Od me BIGTIME one day and I muted him - but he came right back to me on Xfire and apologized - which, even though he's a young'n, shows me that, in some aspects, he's more of a man than others who wouldn't dare to even consider apoligizing. For that I give Coke props.

Sure he's a little young, and sure he prattles on a bit, but at least he gets into the game and makes a team effort. I give him credit for that. He's still learning how to act in a relatively mature manner - heck, we're all playing a video game here - how much maturity can you really expect? LOL! But honestly, I have seen marked improvement in his attitude/speech over the past several weeks, and hope to continue to see that as we offer him criticism that he will hopefully take to heart and learn from and abide by. IMHO, as with any youth, he has a lot of potential, he just needs a little encouragement in achieving that potential; I hope everyone is willing to give him that chance, so long as HE continues to be willing to admit his mistakes when he makes them/we point them out and take measures avoid them in the future.

I think vapter deserves to brag because of ALL of the thigs he has done for the server. But he can be a little annoying at times. Oh and beast you sound exactly like Intim about vapter :D

Trust me, I don't disagree there, and I don't want to take anything away from that. I think work he has done for this server is fantastic, and I give him nothing but props for that.

OOOOOOH Yeah. Again, I think the things he's done for the server are great - it's just the fact the he thinks he has to CONSTANTLY remind everyone about it that grates on my nerves - especially when I am trying to help other players with PUs/Weapons they have asked for, but can't hear me telling them about what I have because he's too busy tooting his own horn AGAIN

And here we go again, if you dont want to hear a person speak in game mute them, or tell them to use team speak 204.11.33.157 password UT2K4, there are channels where you can talk about what ever or just the game , so you can go to a diffrent channel if you dont want to hear a person or just mute them in the game and i also pretty much agree with what you said beast.

PS I douno teamspeak right now its down, and hopefully maybe joey will get it back up and running again

VS - TYVM for posting the info about the TS server. I myself love TeamSpeak - I used it all the time when I played WoW - and highly recommend it to everyone - ESPECIALLY so you can use it to talk about something not related to the game, so you can get off the in-game voice chat and free it up for those who DO want to talk about what's going on in the game!

But it's really nothing much to set up your own TS server as it takes VERY LITTLE system resources (from my experience). Joeyz is much too busy right now with the server upgrades to worry about TS very much. IMHO I'd rather have him working on the updates! LOL!

Who has the green key? Come on Bowls, I know you have it...
