I THINK I WAS HACKED THROUGH THE MM SERVER!!!

OK so I had just joined a game, it was wave 2, and all the sudden I get a big lag spike, so I figure ok maybe the server is having problems, and it disconnects, but then my UT is minimized and a "high risk worm" alert on norton anti-virus comes up FROM THE SERVER ADDRESS. Does anyone know what this could be? My 1st impression was obviously SOME censored FAGGOT QUEER censored SUCKER ASSHOLE JERK MOFO censored HACKED ME and I figured it was someone from the server. I have never got ANYTHING from a ut2004 server that showed up as an alert on norton. Because it was high risk norton didnt allow me to reconenct to the server OR the forum. So, I restarted my computer and disabled it and was able to connect to the server. If anyone can come up with anything except that someone hacked me with a worm I'd like to hear it! Its possible it wasn't actually a player, in fact I dont see how someone could send a worm ingame, but stil I DEMAND THIS BE LOOKED AT! My personal security should not be at risk at the gaming server so please consider what I've said. I am going to attach a ss with the players at the server when I rejoined. If you look closely Chaser_Imposter and 3pac both joined about 2-4 minutes after it happened so, maybe it was one of them? I have played with both of them a lot so i doubt it but you never know. Also, Fat_Kid_Deluxe was just standing aroudn the whole game, HMMM INTERESTING. If it was a player at the server I would put my money on him. Anyways, I gotta run so if anyone else has had things like this happen let me know! It could have been something totally random that had nothing to do with the server. But if it happens again you guys are going to hear about it.

1. nobody's proxying the server just to get at u. ur not worth it

Turkey well i certainly hope your right. I know that I am "not worth it" considering I'm just a regular player at the server, but it seemed very very unusual that i would get a worm that came through the server. Oh well I get worms and viruses and shit all the time everyone does, it was probobly just some random thing that went through the server cause I was connected to it. For now I'll forget about it hopefully it doesnt happen again. I have had some really shitty luck lately though so I am a sad panda.

There is an exploit on UT99 that makes connected clients crash. It's in ActiveX, I don't know the details of it, but it's entirely possible there's something like that loose on 2K4.

We finally nailed the guy who was crashing ours - he can't connect, ever again... but it takes some security, and a lot of watching.

One case doesn't mean someone is hacking through the server. Until others report the same thing I will say it's not the server or any player on the server.

Norton blows anyways. You need to find out where the worm really came from.

I will let Joey know about this when I see him later tonight (if he doesn't already know) and then he can look into it.
