Suggestions if possible.

Post by TheSynGame » Tue Dec 04, 2007 5:15 pm

Well it's that time again. I'm about almost done paying off my credit so I'm looking into getting a new comp this week.

well here is what I got thus far. any suggestions on what I should change would be greatly appreciated as I do want a decent gaming/all purpose comp. I mainly want it for ut3 but if I see something worthy of playing then of course yeah. :p

this is from cyberpowerpc.com. A person from the ut3 forums recommended this and also said there were rumors that the PCs came dead but others (including him) said there were no problems.

watch for the new card that is suposed to be coming out within next couple of weeks. i believe it is the GT series and is supposed to be one step above GTS and a step below GTX.

do yourself a favor and either wait for the 1600MHz FSB, or get one of the 1333MHz chips. 1066 is already pedestrian. :hwsb2:

but, if you really can't wait, get a decent cooler (large mofo air, or dirt cheap liquid) and that will overclock to the 1600 mark no problem. and your asus board should be able to get near it too.
agree with 1800 look at the specs of some different cards and see what you can get for the money
(most of the time its cheaper to drop them in yourself anyway), and watch the what the core clocks are as some manufacturers pre-overclock cards with the same chips and sell the for different prices with little or no change in components.
May want to upgrade the memory to 4GB once you get it, not too expensive anymore as its 2gb paired for only US$100 now( and love the corsair brand, can't go wrong with those :) ).
That machine is definatly going to kick ass once you get it.

I figured I get this now and upgrade later. They didn't have the GTX on the site. Plus I'd have to add 900 to get the 1333 quad core chip. I think I'll still to this. :p

Save your money and stick with the Q6600 and then OC to 3.2 ghz like I did. with a decent HSF (I'm using an ArticCooler 7) my temps are only 53c - 58c with a good full size case to move air in and out. The EVGA 680i is one of the best mobos out there.

Now, that's only if you don't want to wait for the new Intels coming out cause I read that they're suppose to be screamers.

its been a while since i have looked, but last time i checked, intel didnt make a quad core socket 775 1333mhz chip. they may have changed since a month and a half ago when i looked, but thats the chip i really want. the closest you can get is 1066 if i am not mistaken.

It's out apparantly because that's one of my options.
