Web Admin Abusing his powers?

Well On April 5th 2008 i was in the server and was playing a game in the map DM-1on1-Crash and whilst playing this game i was interupted by this "Unknown" web admin who did not come foward with a name. They were making people say stuff that they didn't actually type (mostly stuff about the male reproductive organ) .. and chuck norris. I didn't find this very mature considering i had asked them to stop.. Here are some screen shots of the chat box showing some of the stuff said that was not actually typed by that player. These shots were taken at 7:40pm - 7:45pm eastern time.

ok, i checked the pics, its not an admin, its a player using unicodeletter at the end of the name, which isnt visible in the game, but it has one effect: the ":" is a bit more away from the name:
examples:

"clapped:" results in "clapped:" on the screen
"clapped²:" results in "clapped :"

you will notice a really small difference in distance between zank: original and zank : fake or clapped: original and clapped : fake
you also can notice the yellow text starts a little bit later from the faker than from the original. someone hates you...

yes, just try it, good thing is normally inserverlog there is an entry called

"a-hole renamed into clapped²" (the "high"2 -> "²" ) is just an example and fast creatable ingame with every keyboard without editing user.ini

someone should search in the logfiles who it is!

just forgot, its not really true, if i remember right in some screenresolutions or/and when "show-player-picture-when-player-announces" is activated you can see unicodeletters in the announcing-player-picture where the name is displayed too... one exception. logged webadmins can read it too...

just a note, shame we cant use unicodeletter regular displayed like in ut99.... much more funny name-creating possibilities....

TBH, UT2004 is marketed as a AO game (16+ here I think.). So talk like that's ok...ish d=P

But yeah, rename trick. Webadmins don't have the ability to rename in game as they're using an external web console to see the chat in game.

I agree with what Amy said; I too believe it was a particular player, one by the name of Prime {B20} (unicode).
As evidence, I would specifically like to reference Clapped's screenshot named "Shot00023.bmp"; specifically, lines 9 and 10. On line 9, Prime starts to type something: "ye" and then Zank (the fake one) continues with "yes his is sick". Notice again Prime says not much else for several lines, until in response to Clapped (the fake one's) "Dudez I got a small p***s". This and other actions on this player's part leads me to believe that it was in fact Prime, not SIKPuppy. Puppy at least will fess up and come in under his own name eventually, and stop if you ask him to. On top of that, this is something he VERY RARELY does, and when he does, it's usually to the veterans on the server, not so much to the newer players (such as Zank). PS - Zank, if you read this, congrats on gaining all those levels last night (I think he got over 40 levels over 2 SSR maps, going from L30 to L70, or so I believe) - u r a friggin dead-eye with that super shock rifle.

Regardless, I still think it was immature (understatement) on the part of the player doing it, and annoying (understatement) to the players s/he was doing it TO (myself included). I will see if I took any screenshots last night that may provide the name this person started out using.

There was also speculation on the part of some players that this might have been Border_2 using another name/GUID/IP, but I understand that those possibilities are slim now that measures have been taken to ban him from the game.

Again, let me just re-iterate that my honest opinion Puppy should not have any blame in this. This user just latched on to the first possible name to blame we gave them and followed suit in spades. Again, had it actually been Pup, I believe we would have seen him come in under his own name, as he always does. Since he did not this leads me to believe that it was another user, since that user didn't/wouldn't (necessarily) know how to correctly spell Puppy's name.

Reminds me of an aimbotter I came across a while back on some random ONS server
That guys aimbot automatically changed his nick to the same nick as anyone else on the server.
Made it easy to spot too, especially when he switched to my nick while I was spectating

sure.. i specced that, only "nooobs" running and superspeeding around and didnt hit anything while he still stand nearly non-movin in a corner and had all time of the world killing every monster in sight :-)))
only pity/dumb w/e he resetted his stats after that instead of refunding :-))

you dont need an aimbot for fast renaming, just keybind the names, and maybe some stupid text, like those shown in the pics, press rename-button, press stupidtextbutton, renamebutton back to your old name, needs 3 seconds and nearly impossible to find out who it was
