question about the "xyz_imposter_imposters"...

i have a question. the server is renaming players into ..._imposters when the chosen
name exists, and/or if the same key is used by another player.
now lets use an actual example:
imagine a player called "vick88" joined 5 years ago and left like so many other noobs
after beeing killed one time ;-)
now, some month ago, a new player joined, and whyever, he has the same name
"vick88" like the player 5 years ago, but has nothing to do with him and also NOT his key.
the server renames him into "vick88_imposter".
the player doesnt care about that and plays till he is level 170+...then stop playing for some weeks.
meanwhile joey purged all long-time-NOT-playing-player-accounts, inclusive the ORIGINAL
"vick88" lowlevel-10-account.
now after that, the "vick88_imposter" joines again, and recognices, game is renaming him into
"vick88" instead of "vick88_imposter".
so, the original "vick88" was purged, and the imposter now turns into the "original" player,
but with the bad side-effect loosing his levels, cause the "original" didnt exist anymore, so,
where are the stats from that imposter-account?
he tried to rename into old "vick88_imposter"name but server renamed him back to "vick88"...??!
any clue about if im right theres something wrong? if so i think it should be fixed.
