Etiquette Question

Being fairly new to the server, it is my intention to not offend anyone. If I pick up an powerup that someone just killed a monster for, especially a good one, I will toss it back most times if asked. In return I have been tossed a few nice things back......
I guess my question is, if someone is dumping a ton of power ups in a room with 3 or 4 of us in it and I haven't heard them say here *player* take these, I assume they are fair game. There have been times I watched a bunch of powerups fade away because I thought they were being tossed to another player. Maybe that is being overly polite but I definately am not here to offend anyone since I need all the help I can get to level up.
Maybe I should stop being over cautious and if someone asks that they have a powerup back that was being tossed to them I didn't realize, I can certainly toss it back. Maybe someone can yell, "have at em"......

Anyway, I am coming over from a couple of other invasion servers and I think joeyz and team have a great and extremely fun server here and I plan on making it my permanent home.
Peace.

wrath,
thanks for trying to not be ignorent. However whoever picks up a powerup gets the powerup. But like you said if some one told a specific player take this and you jump infront of the guy while he is tossing the powerup that is not cool.

Its not only about being polite, but also not destroying the time critical already usually difficult actions of teamwork, that result in everyone getting 500 xp in the end. I know it may sound a tad elitist of me, but the people who are more likely to stay alive long enough to put the power ups to good use should get them. The 500 xp isn't much of a dent when you need 20000+ to level up, But when your a lower level, it is very helpful. This is the second time I've leveled up on this server (meaning I had a high level before and reset), and both times while my level was low, If I had a power up that would help us beat the map (ssr, summons, etc.) I would give them to someone who's at the top of the scoreboard.
And I do the same today, if I have an extra gold kit, ss, or something, and I have to chose between giving it to the highest score, and some lower score, I'm sorry but I want to win, nothing personal. And besides the 500xp, the more aggressively people kill monsters (usually affected by how 'powerful' they feel) the less monsters I have to try to survive all by myself, aka teamwork.
My personal rules:
See a power up, pick it up. Unless I know I didn't kill the monster, AND I see the person who did is already running for it.
Put the power ups I need on my wop, and toss the rest wherever a group people are standing.
When I do 'jack' a power up, I return it if asked on one condition: If it is one of 2 certain people who I will not name here, I just wont give anything to them, Because these people hold on to every pu they get regardless if they need it or not, and they go out of their way just to pick up pu's just so others don't get them.

i give powerups to who needs them, but phoenix and von seem to get the powerups i have because they ask when i get it. now that i think about it, are they watching me? :-k heh, just joking
hey jason, want to pm me who doesn't deserve these powerups?

Sorry Nutter I wont do that, If I did it would only be an act of anger and serve no positive purpose. But I understand why you would want to know, and believe me, if there still at it, it wont take long for you to figure it out for yourself.
Also I'd like to add, everyone messes up, I have no problem with that, I only have a problem with ignorance, as in: 'Refuses to learn' not 'just hasn't learned yet'.
But look, its like my 4th post here, and its already looking like a strongly opinionated emotion filled piece of flame-bait.
So everyone get your zeroping working and go read something else :-)

Thanks. I appreciate the honest straight-forward answers. I haven't picked up a gold kit but I have no problem tossing it or an ssr or other pups that I either can't put to use or frankly wouldn't know how to correctly either put them on a wep or use the wep correctly. Still learning. I have tried to work on my resupply level so if someone needs an infinity and I have one I can toss it most times. Being fairly new to the server and agreeing with Jason that teamwork is what gets the win and 500xp at my current level does make a difference so I am all for sharing. Thanks again guys and just let me know in the server if I do something whacked. I am rarely offended because when you get old as I am it tires me out too quick.....heh.....I was already past 30 when UT came out.

even though i'm never on the top of the score list ingame, with an inf and other good equip i don't usually die until mid wave 16, but lately (since the update actually) i haven't been playing, i'm just not in the mood to play it anymore. although i will stick around to see about any more updates that might get me back in to the swing of things.
yea point is, imo you should share powerups to anyone and not just the guy who's doing the best. i try to give out the 2nd inf that i get instead of using both at the same time, if only other people considered giving out second infs out till late waves like 13-14 to keep a second inf.
meh, i'm gonna go now
PowerUp Etiquette / Team Play (Ok it turned into how I play)

Heres my 2 cents worth:
DON'T FORGET TO BUY DENIAL LEVEL 2 - It is the one thing that helped me keep my sanity between levels 25 and about 80. No more losing your +10 RL of power with +5 Dmg, Flare , 2 Infs, super force, super speed, etc. when some bitch titan gets a lucky rock up your butt.
If you run over a powerup , it's yours. I have PUs jacked from me all of the time...when I don't have speed. One thing to remember is that the speed powerups stack from weapon to weapon. So two WOPs with Speed +5 on them make you twice as fast as one WOP with speed +5. Careful with doing that with SuperSpeed, unless you have really quick reflexes, or its a huge map with no dangerous parts. With a couple of speed powerups, you should at least have an edge on getting powerups from monsters that you kill. When you frag a monster the powerups fly towards the person that made the kill, so at least you will have that going for you. If your powerups are constantly getting jacked, move to a less busy part of the map, and focus on weaker monsters that you can kill with your MP5. Did I mention that until you have some serious damage, fire rate, and/or a souped-up (Flare, Razor, SSR Mini, Blast Cannon, Shock Cannon, Turbo Laser) fire mode on your WOP, your best choice for weapons is the MP5, insane fire rate and range. With awareness, resupply, team vamp, and vampirism skills you can wreak some havoc with the MP5. Oh yeah did I also mention it's pretty hard to make an impact past wave 8 (without a fully loaded wop) until you have spent at least 100 points on all your abilities (WS,HLTH,ADR,DB,DR and Max Ammo). Sigh, I can just go on and on about this.

two cents? i'd say that was worth at least $3.50
Wrath- You'll have to figure out whom to share with and whom not to on your own. Some people are always willing to give up PUs, some aren't. The ones that are are the ones i give stuff out to.. it has worked so far.

Otherwise, PUs belong to no one until they are picked up, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Yeah I am getting the hang of it. I knew about where to put my XP coming from other INV servers but the WOPS and PUPS do change that some. It seems that DR is more important than DB since a nicely loaded WOP or Special wep can help you kill quicker. Oh yes, I have lost the nice loaded WOP I had and I still haven't placed any XP in Denial....guess I keep relying on getting a Retention and it is getting harder to level the higher I go. I am also finding a core group of players who are good about sharing and I certainly share back. I did take an speed that I owed back and thought I threw it back to him but someone got it ......I gotta map a talk key to my mini keypad so I can yell "here take it back!"....
MP5 is certainly my wep of choice the first few waves then I find a spot to roll thru my weps and pups and see what I got. Like I said just yell at me or call me a name if I take something that you killed and were going for and I probably will give it back (mostly likely to one of those nice guys that share)......see you in the server.
