My experience with UT3 so far - (tech stuff in here!)

I wanted to build a PC for this, but of course Epic decides to release the game a month before Christmas... do you see a new PC in the budget there, lol?

So, what do I have? Let's see - I have a leftover Dell E520 that I ended up with. Specs?

Celeron D 2.8Ghz
512mb Ram
SATA drives
PCIe X16 slot

So, I tried it. With the built in video it wouldn't run 2K4, so I knew I had to do something. When I picked up UT3, I got a PNY 8600GT, $130 at Compusa. I figured, if that performs at all, I can tweak.

Well, success! 1 time out of 10. I've played some of the offline campaign, several online games... but, have successfully exited the game a total of one time without a crash.

My next step is to up the RAM, I have 2GB Kingston HyperX 750 coming. Meanwhile, I'm playing MM with no issues. I still can't turn up the details all the way. I'm convinced the lack is system memory, really. I would be happier with a dual core, but I'm going to try the RAM first.

The memory and video card can move to a new system when I get one, as they are going to be compatible with nearly everything.

Stay tuned!
