Jet$: Ya you can run emu's on the psp. I have a 1.5 firmware psp, lets me run any homebrew apps on it. Got snes9x, vba (gba emu) and a ti-92 emu (pretty badass sci/algebra graphing calc) and I do my own dev on it.
I know theres Amiga, PC Engine (turbo grafix), Sega, C64 and many other emus ported to the psp. I can also load up higher firmwares (up to 2.71) and run latest UMD's without upgrading my 1.5 firmware..hows that for hacks =)
Check out http://pspupdates.qj.net theyre always posting news on latest releases and homebrew stuff.

If you have 2.0, you can downgrade it to 1.5. Thats how I downgraded my firmware. Theres a tiff exploit in 2.0 that lets you run homebrew (for 2.0 only) as well. Check http://pspupdates.qj.net theres tons of info on downgraders and such for firmwares up to 2.5 i think. Their forums are also loaded with info on how to downgrade, run emulated firmwares up to 2.71 (I do this on mine), etc. As always, BE CAREFUL messing with these apps, you can easily brick your psp if you dont have a power adapater hooked up.
Also keep in mind 1.5 firmware doesnt have all the features 2.0 and up have, like the web browser, wallpapers, etc. And you wont be able to play games that require later firmware versions (unless you use DevHook, ill let you research that one). So if you downgrade, dont expect to keep all the cool bits sony put in the later firmwares. I use my psp primarily for homebrew, so i dont really miss all the other stuff =)
