Unions being shut down all over the country...hooray!
As you may have heard in Wisconsin the governor is eliminating unions to help balance a budget deficit. It is either unions end, or around 6000 teachers get laid off. So despite all the protests by greedy union workers who want to gauge us by increasing their retirement fund with our tax dollars the governor is trying to save their jobs but they aren't having any part of it. If you watched the inflation crisis video I posted then you know that our country is in more debt than we could ever pay back. This is why it is necessary to decrease spending wherever we can.

By the way unions are no longer needed in America. They were important when minimum wage and anti-discrimination laws didn't exist. But now with such laws in action unions only serve the one purpose of increasing our taxes to pay their salary. As I mentioned above its better to end the union than to lay off 6000 teachers. But they are greedy but something has to be done and Governor Walker is determined to do what's necessary for the good of his state.

Would you consider decreasing spending on defense? Or decreasing spending on tax cuts to the super rich?

Decreasing on defense, sort of. I would like to cut the corrupt contractors that under bid but over charge for materials.
Decreasing tax cuts for the wealthy ... hell ya.

Good point! Our defense spending makes up ALMOST 50% of the worlds total defense spending. Something can definately be done in this area.

Well first of all the government's defense budget has nothing to do with the state. Each state has it's own budget and the federal government has its own as well. That's why you pay taxes to the state AND to the federal government. But for argument's sake....
There are definitely places to cut back in our defense budget but where we would start I have no idea. I personally wish we would go back to isolationism and get away from this imperialism garbage that the world is pissed off about. Now as far as taxes, and the rich that's a sticky subject.
If you tax the rich to death then they are very likely to move out of the country (with their business) so they get taxed less.
And it also tarnishes the American dreams reputation. Like it would be "Get rich so we can tax you to death, only in America!".
The rich aren't being taxed to death right now so they have incentives to stay in America so more jobs don't go overseas.
In the inflation crisis video I posted intel said that it costs them 1 BILLION dollars more to make a factory here than anywhere else in the world because of the high corporate tax. It's not because they have to pay our workers more than people in China, it's because of current anti-business legislation that tax corporations to death.
I think we should decrease taxes on EVERYONE that way we are oppressed less and are willing to spend more to stimulate the economy. Business that make more money might higher more people. Consumer's that make more money might buy more things.

Yes, but something tells me that you would LOVE to see ALL unions shut down nation wide, not just state wide. Right?Paintball wrote:Well first of all the government's defense budget has nothing to do with the state. Each state has it's own budget and the federal government has its own as well. Do you sincerely believe that millionaires would have left the country if their 4.6% income tax break expired? If getting "Taxed To Death," is so bad, why not take a big enough pay cut to fit into OUR tax bracket? If it were my money, and my taxes just went up by 4.6%, at the end of the day, IM STILL RICH. Is it really punishing to be put in a position to help a nation in big trouble? The same 95% of the nation that gave them their wealth? Why the outcry and sympathy for the top 5% earners in the country?Paintball wrote: If you tax the rich to death then they are very likely to move out of the country (with their business) so they get taxed less.

The corporate tax is only a small part of the cost when you take into consideration the cost of overtime for work past 8 hours a day. Add to that the cost of benefits, the cost of bonding, the cost of lawyers and entitlements and all of a sudden the corporate tax doesn't look so bad. But why not suggest that companys like Intel have to pay fees for shipping jobs overseas? If JOBS are the main concern of Americans, then why are we alowing GREED to dictate the way we do business? Isn't that what got us into this mess?Paintball wrote: In the inflation crisis video I posted intel said that it costs them 1 BILLION dollars more to make a factory here than anywhere else in the world because of the high corporate tax. Once greed began to be extolled as a cultural value, the rest was bound to happen. The result? We're on our way to having a huge permanent underclass with a small ruling class of elites. Sounds like a third world nation?
You make some compelling arguments, Paintball. But as the previous administration proved, pandering to the wealthy in NOT in the best intrest of 95% of Americans. Nobody is ever going to get everything they want, so I think we should be thankful that we have a President that is willing to see beyond party lines and compromise. God Bless America!
Something to think about:
Part 1 - BLAME:
Follow the MONEY!
Which party is known for coddling the rich?
Which party is known for sucking up to CEO's?
Which party is known for calling any kind of change 'socialism'?
Which party is known for its cozy relationship to big oil and pharmaceuticals? Abramoff, Delay, Enron...
Which party is known for starting wars they cannot finish, which have helped to bankrupt our nation?
Which party is known for spending the VAST majority of our national budget deficit?
Which party has pushed their precious 'FREE MARKET' down our throats?
Which party has championed deregulation, causing our financial meltdown?
Which party gives huge tax breaks to the rich in the name of job creation, and just how many jobs has THAT created?
Which party consistently votes down Education and Research funding?
Which party is known for selfish GREED, with policies designed to concentrate American wealth into the hands of a very few?
I'm not naming any parties here, you can figure it out yourself.
I'm just sayin...follow the MONEY.
Part 2 - What we can do NOW:
1. Fund RESEARCH! New ideas and inventions are what started America's climb a century ago...we CAN do it again.
2. Fund Education! Its no secret that we've allowed our schools to languish while the rest of the world's kids pass us in every category.
3. GET BIG MONEY OUT OF THE HALLS OF OUR CONGRESS! Mandatory funding of national elections, with ZERO private and corporate funding, will ensure our representatives actually stay at work in DC instead of running around the country prostituting themselves to pay for their next election, and the cost will be more than paid for by the reduction in sleaze and pork barrel spending. This also means banning lobbyists and tougher Ethics rules, which would be difficult but still do-able.
4. Cut defense spending! We spend more on our DoD than nearly the rest of the world combined! Why do we need 11 aircraft carriers (with another being built) when no other nation has more than 2 (Italy and the UK, both allies)?
5. Get rid of the Federal Reserve, a PRIVATE entity that has goals different than our govt and operates OUTSIDE of our govt.
The party to blame has a vested interest in the dumbing-down of America. Raising the intelligence level of the average voter is where we should start.

Yes in general I think unions are bad and only serve to tax hard working American families to pay for salary increases for union members that the taxpayers don't even get themselves.Yes, but something tells me that you would LOVE to see ALL unions shut down nation wide, not just state wide. Right?
We have no right to make someone take a pay cut "for the good of the country"Do you sincerely believe that millionaires would have left the country if their 4.6% income tax break expired? Why the outcry and sympathy for the top 5% earners in the country?
I think instead of immorally charging a company for sending jobs overseas (which they have every right to do) maybe we should give them incentives to keep their business in America. Like tax breaks. The corporate tax is only a small part of the cost when you take into consideration the cost of overtime for work past 8 hours a day. Add to that the cost of benefits, the cost of bonding, the cost of lawyers and entitlements and all of a sudden the corporate tax doesn't look so bad. Isn't that what got us into this mess?
The people of America have spoken and put people in office to impede the socialistic agenda of our president. It sounds like a large majority of Americans aren't too happy with the current state of the country.Once greed began to be extolled as a cultural value, the rest was bound to happen. The result? We're on our way to having a huge permanent underclass with a small ruling class of elites. Sounds like a third world nation?

Which party is known for padding their own pockets with taxpayer dollars.Which party is known for coddling the rich?
Which party is known for taxing CEO's until they cut jobs to keep costs.Which party is known for sucking up to CEO's?
Which party is known for calling any kind of change 'socialism'?
Which party is known for imposing change on a country that unanimously doesn't want it but makes us have it anyway.
Which party is known for its cozy relationship to big oil and pharmaceuticals? Abramoff, Delay, Enron...
Which party is known for imposing anti-business legislation on these industries that cripple their profits that fuel our economy.
Which party has spent 4x our total war cost in the last two years and is still participating in a war they constantly condemn.Which party is known for starting wars they cannot finish, which have helped to bankrupt our nation?
Which party is known for bailing out companies and using printed money to pay for it, causing many times more debt than our defense budget.Which party is known for spending the VAST majority of our national budget deficit?
Which party is just following the foundation set forth by our founding fathers which has worked well for over 200 years.Which party has pushed their precious 'FREE MARKET' down our throats?
I agree with certain amounts of regulation where constitutional and where national security is directly impactedWhich party has championed deregulation, causing our financial meltdown?
Which party advocates the preservation and creation of jobs rather than poisoning a market with high taxes that destroy jobs.Which party gives huge tax breaks to the rich in the name of job creation, and just how many jobs has THAT created?
Defense budget should be trimmed to keep these top priority I agree. If local police and other response can take cuts then so can the government.Which party consistently votes down Education and Research funding?
Which party is known for redistributing wealth that doesn't belong to them to people that do nothing to deserve it.Which party is known for selfish GREED, with policies designed to concentrate American wealth into the hands of a very few?
I agree but we need a way to pay for it without increasing our debt.1. Fund RESEARCH! New ideas and inventions are what started America's climb a century ago...we CAN do it again.
2. Fund Education! Its no secret that we've allowed our schools to languish while the rest of the world's kids pass us in every category.

This also means banning lobbyists and tougher Ethics rules, which would be difficult but still do-able.
Our country is the center of the economic universe. As such we need to be kept secure. Though I do agree there has got to be some spending that can be cut somewhere.4. Cut defense spending! We spend more on our DoD than nearly the rest of the world combined! Why do we need 11 aircraft carriers (with another being built) when no other nation has more than 2 (Italy and the UK, both allies)?
I completely agree 110%. They are not a part of the US government and they print money without our permission and loan it to us at interest making it impossible to ever pay them back. They just printed a couple hundred billion of dollars to buy out government debt and there was no vote on it anywhere in any part of the US government. They just did it.5. Get rid of the Federal Reserve, a PRIVATE entity that has goals different than our govt and operates OUTSIDE of our govt.
This is a baseless accusation. And our average voter just put said party in charge to stop the wreckless spending in Washington. Sounds like they are pretty well informed to me.The party to blame has a vested interest in the dumbing-down of America. Raising the intelligence level of the average voter is where we should start.

Re: Unions being shut down all over the country...hooray!
We need a flat tax base......simple as that. Why punish the rich for being successful and coddle the poor who seem to whine and yet do nothing to help themselves.
We all made this economy the way it is.
1. It started when the lending institutions made borrowing easy. Too easy to the point of setting people up for failure. Example of this, I was averaging 15 credit card apps and large instant loan checks a week. Average check was between $10k to $50k. Just sign. Trouble is, you sign and then 4 months down the road, work dries up and you have no money for bills.
2. Then, companies began to downsize to fatten their bottom lines.
3. As the downsizing continued and people lost their jobs, bankruptcies / foreclosures began to rise. Lending institutions began to feel it.
4. Stock market begins to take a killing, Wall Street falters.
Crash.
First thing we need to do is stop futures trading on fuel and energy stocks.
Require tougher standards on lending.
No more bailouts. Geeze what a waste of money.
