We're switching machines and IP's

Post by BaronVonRotterdam » Fri Sep 16, 2011 1:42 am

Hello,

We are switching machine's and IP's to hopefully be rid of these crashes. I'll keep you guys posted.

You'll kill the server by doing so.

Joey's aware of the risks. But how much longer will we last if our server keeps crashing like this?

We will be fine, it's just going to be tough the first week or two. As far as ranking, it should take about 4 weeks or so, to be back.

=E= actually moved yesterday, but not because of the crashes - just a better deal with a different provider.

We will see what happens with the crashes.

This won't solve the crashing if it is a person causing them. Once they find the new ip it will start all over again.

I don't think the GSP can do anything, I think the only way to find the person(s) causing the crashes is to get their ip from EA's server. Since the d1cks only have to find it on the server selection screen, highlight the server they want to crash, and spam a hotkey until the server goes down.

But it will be crash free until they find it again :)
If you lost your cd and have the old drive and have not reinstalled UT2004 or reformatted the drive, you can find your old cd key in the registry here ...

Someone should run an in-game text line advertising the change. Maybe start off with a general message like "Gaming Madness will be moving, please watch for our new IP" and then change it up to contain the IP once known.

An IP change will definately be tough, we'll all need to get the word out to those Gaming Madness regulars.
