Allright so tell me what you guys think. I built this computer with longevity in mind (3x pcie 2.0, X58) but its not for overclocking. Any suggestions will be welcomed but for price / performance ratio I think this build is perfect (minus the lousy stinkin' expensive SSD).

looks good paint : ) thoe there is not realy much of a price diffrence in price between the DDR-3 1333 and the DDR-3 1600 and the 1600 is much bettter you can run it at 12800 at rated speeds or at the 1333 you are thinking about with much better timings. other than that (not a complante, just a sugestion) looks great. you add one more vid card and it will out perform arch's pc or mine : (

It is actually cheaper than what I have selected right now except it has a cas 9 latency :/. What do you think will be faster? 1333 @ 7 cas, or 1600 @ 9 cas?

Not running at advertised DD3-1600 speed when 2 kits are installed

Pros: It was cheaper (119 at the time) than comparable brands such as corsair and booted up the first time (albeit at DDR3-1333) without any trouble.

Cons: I could not get it to run at advertised rating when 2 sets of this kit are installed on an Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard (also bought from newegg) paired with Core i7 965 Extreme. I'm supposed to be able to run the CPU at 6400 GT/s QPI speed standard with 1600 DDR3 ram without any overclocking. BIOS tells me of an overclock error even though I'm not even overclocking. If anybody from GSkill can contact me about this with any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Dear customer

we apologize for this inconvenience. however, the Intel I7 memory controller is not good to run with 6 modules installed. they need to have stronger single. if you use rated DDR3 1600 memory 6 modules, the best you can get is DDR3 1333. if you want to run DDR3 1600, you need to purchase DDR3 1800 or 1866 memory. there is nothing wrong with each memory modules, it just I7 doesn't support over DDR3 1066 if you check out the Intel I7 website. they only support up to DDR3 1066...........

Looks like I'm better off running DDR3 1333? I am confused though. What he is saying is that if you have 1600 it will run at 1333. I wonder if 1333 will run at 1066?? That would suck.... as I do plan on upgrading to the full 12GB in the future.

I was reading other reviews and other guys with the Asus P6T Deluxe v2 are running all 12GB perfect yet this guy with the v1 deluxe isn't.

Well I am left with 2 choices (depending on kanabanoids answer to my ram question above)

Upgrade to the Deluxe v2 mobo with this Ram (Pay an extra $50 to get the deluxe v2)

or

Stay with the current P6T standard and the 1333mhz ram.

Yeah :D To see if outdoing you is going to be in the same price range... can I ask how much did you payed for your computer?? I built this puppy with future proofing in mind. I want it to run until its about as useful as my Pentium 3 from 1998 that is barely loading youtube videos. I would figure atleast 5-10 years...or more :party:

the post you read is correct, thoe you have to understand they will update the fermware. so it is kinda 50/50. and you also have to understand that if you get the higher rated ram you should be able to get your CL to lower timings than the 1333 will acheve. it is some what of a trade off ither higher GHZ or better timings. both make more speed you just have to find what works best for you. i can tell you if you get the 1600 or 1800 and run it at 1333 or 1066 you will get much lower timings than you will be able to get with the 1333. i have actualy updated my system and now am using an ASUS striker II and 4 gb DDR3-1600

Oh.. and might i sugest a LCD with 2 mls responce. i looked for you and found a few you might like in your price range.

2) I7 platform it's too expensive, but if u buy for general pourpose, it's ok if u have bucks :D, if u buy expecially for play, the best choice, price-performances, actually is the Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition (am2+/am3=ddr2 or ddr3) (u can overclock this processor easy, to 3,4 GHZ without overvolt ) +ddr2 800cl4 or ddr1066cl5.

The problem is that most PC games are ported from the console, and then still has the frequency of processor, among other things, and the games that exploit the multicore few (max 2 cores)

Nothing to say about your choice, i tell you that maybe you could just take a look at it.
washable dust filters, etc etc well ventilated, the only "disadvantage" to fix the drives are the screws.

take two disks traditionals 320 GB and put them in RAID0.
(samsumg spinpoint F1 or WD caviar SE) and one only for storage.
To get speed and performance.

Thanks for the tips on the monitors kana . I looked at the ASUS one and the only difference was 5ms acer vs 2ms ASUS except the ASUS has 1000:1 contrast and the Acer has 2500:1. I read that contrast ratio is more important than response time as long as the response is under 10ms you should notice and there should be no ghosting. Unless that changes I am currently more inclined to get the Acer.

Holy Crap! My god you put a lot of time into this. I really really appreciate it IIO. The PSU I chose was the Corsair 850W with a 70amp rail for the video cards. I am defenitly doling out enough power there. I chose the Core i7 because of the new socket 1366. Since this is the new and best everything else is now antiquated so investing in anything but a socket 1366 would be a waste of money. The SSD have gotten rave reviews except the only thing I am upset about is the price. For the price I still like the 1333mhz ram and because of its low latency. Unless I can find a cas 7 latency DDR3 1600 for cheap I'll have to stick with my current selection. Also I picked the case I did because thats the one I picked out for my cousin and it looks and works AWESOME!!. It was so easy to build with and though the antec 900's and others look cool I don't like how cramped they look. I am extremely worried since my video card is 10.5". Thanks again for all the help and suggestions guys but until prices get lower and what not I am going to have to stick to what I got.
