No, there should not be room to jump over the cubicles, yet enough room to jump onto a chair and either view over the top of the cubicle walls or even shoot over them (perhaps my jumping onto the desk)

as far as negotiating them, that should be easy - there should be 2 sets of 8 cubes (in a 2x4 setup) in the middle of the room, with a open hall/circuit running around them and a connecting hall running between the two. On the wall OPPOSITE of the cubes - that is, as you go down each side (not in between at the middle, or at the ends) there are doors leading into offices/rooms.

Hope that clarifies my idea a little.

well beast im proud to say that i took ur idea and completely fcuked it up :D into a cynical propaganda-laden business complex consisting so far of a one room shout against human rights. with about.... ummmmmm..... lets seeee 6.. 3... i think... no..8 3.. with 6 and 6.. 864 cubes XDDD. here il post a screen in a sec

It looks kinda big...

I need to either find a decent & simple grid/map program (you know, graph paper style stuff!) - can anyone recommend one?

It's either that or learn this UTEd myself, which I don't think I have time to do, wot with trying to learn PU code too ;) How hard is it, really?

Simply put, I would just like to provide a VERY basic layout/floor plan, and let TfH or anyone else willing adapt from that. I've got a lot of ideas for maps, just not a lot of time to invest in them.

Another idea

Post by SirBeast » Fri Feb 02, 2007 9:05 am

Make another, relatively small, 1-room map, lotsa snipe points (not unlike either of Nard's EgyptCorp maps) and with this little fun bit: only like 4/6 mob spawn points so we can sit and spawnkill the whole map!

I'm just curious - on average maps take 1/2-hour to play... is that a timer set by the admin, or is it based on a set # of mobs to be spawned? I just want to see how fast we can get through 16 waves - this could also make things interesting once waves 17 and 18 get implemented.

well im thinking that once i finish it, im gonna adapt it to another version thats a little more *realistic* cubicle office type environment and its gonna hav sum nice stuff in it. i think i might branch off onto that version before i actually finish the big 1, so who knows :)

Good news!

I just got a copy of the actual floor plan of one of our offices. One of the IT guys is going to send it to me in electronic format, but if it's not something standard (he said it's Visio...?) I will just have to scan the hard copy I have into a JPG or something and post it for your use. I'll be doing that later this evening (after 8PM), so at least you'll have that to work with. I'll post additional details when it goes up.

Sure thing, Paint! Unfortunately with all the "excitement" of the crap I had to deal with regarding my truck dying on me, I haven't been able to find the time the last couple of days to do this. It is my plan to see that this is done tonight, cuz I would really like to see/play this map, and am unfortunate to not know enough/have enough time to learn about UnRealEd to do it myself.

Can someone recommend a way I can send the scan files to Paint/TfH once I have them ready?

Also, I *THINK* I might have some old Old OLD D&D adventure maps (like, from the VERY FIRST Basic/Expert/Advanced editiions) that I could also scan that could make some interesting maps. If I can find where they are stored, I will scan those too and send them in. I think it would be a really nice way to come full circle to play a map that I've only ever played in a 2D tabletop world in a 3D virtual world.
