ROFLMAO, Silicon Knights expects to win a lawsuit that forces Eppic to give over ALL profits made from Gears of WAR, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not going to pretend to know exactly what was in any agreement but the following phrases seem to sum up, and this is a quote from that article by Silicon Knights...
This will have no significant impact on any further releases or current production by Epic. They released one of the first "Next-Gen" defining games for the 360, with Microsoft's backing. I am sure with the powers of Mark Rein and Bill Gates, this will end up getting pushed to the side and settled out for a small fee.

Ok so Silicon Knights gets mad because the inventors of the product know how to squeeze more performance out of the product, in a more time efficient manner, than Silicon Knights. Epic has the #1 Next Gen game Engine out there and Silicon Knights expects Epic to just sit back and wait while Silicon Knights takes there time in making a game first. If Silicon Knights were busting there ass and putting as much time and man-power behind there games, as Epic has so far, then we wouldn't even see this lawsuit, we would see a game.According to the suit, Epic "has caused Silicon Knights to experience considerable losses and ultimately has forced Silicon Knights to spend its limited time and resources on building its own game engine rather than in developing its video game." It goes on to say that instead of supporting its licensing partners, Epic has used its fees to develop its own competing products "while simultaneously sabotaging efforts by Silicon Knights and others to develop their own video games."

Yea but we're also talking about a country where a woman tried to sue mcdonalds for making her kid fatTurkeyFromHell wrote:come on now we all know how the US civil court syste works, even if theyre case makes no sense and has no backing they can find some completely meaningless and arbitrary technicallity written down somewhere and get a few mils off it

Hmm... I believe it says in the 7th paragraph that they got an engine but they weren't allowed to alter it or else Epic would not support them and they were suppose to advertise this engine as par their contract. So if they made a game with an altered engine wouldn't they be the ones sued for breaking contract? And if they got the engine late and missed the convection where people look at games, rate them, and help support certain games, well they don't have that backing if you see what I mean. Its like any product, you want to make sure you get a prototype out along with all the other models and let people see for themselves instead of just tossing it out there and hoping someone will notice it. I'm just saying that if what they say is TRUE (read that over and over again) and even if someone else got it to work, maybe they had a different contract that allowed them to change aspects of it or maybe they were given knowledge on what to do. If its FALSE then they are just out there to regain funds and trying to get a little popularity while at the same time.
Meh I feel like Zombie and I hope people will completely read this instead of just reading parts they want then go straight to criticizing.
