I can see where you are coming from ARCH but you have to look at the people who can't crank up the graphics. Your going to be affected online if those people do try to max and slow the server your playing on. It might not be alot but in overall gameplay it will lag and then your machine is just a nice big red APPLE. The gaming world is moving but the cost of moving with it is pricing and almost to unviling for people to upgrade.
Later all!

Let's look at it this way............Your the designer of this game.......Do you design the game for the people who have 6800 GT cards, or for the latest/greatest cards that are currently on the market?

If this is UT3 than UT2k4 is UT4, because it sure feels like we went 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Horrible GUIs. Ok, it doesnt suck that bad, I am upset with the third world country menu.

The most deadly of enemies arent the ones that can be seen coming from afar, but the ones you never see untill your dead.

They don't make the games just for the high cards you know. They design it to be compatible with GFX cards as old as possible, so that they can sell more. The game does not have to be played on max settings, and it actually won't be possible to play it on max settings (will require much ini tweaking). Much of the extra GFX that they added is useless (motion blur, bloom, massive fog) and can be disabled.

I'd like to see your rig run UT3 with full 16x AA and maxed Anisotropic filtering, with unpacked textures and lights. Once you can do that, you have the right to say a game is good based on GFX.

The main fact is, the game was based solely around spam and vehicles, not for gametypes like invasion. The only people that I know that actually like it is people that have played since UT99.

Already done it with the demo.........and waiting to do it with the retail version.........and was getting over 60 fps........and that's with the card set all the way up and all the eyecandy turned on.

Dude........simply put........you have it wrong.

The games will play on older cards, sure. But, they're also making the games so that those with high-end systems can have alot more in regards to graphics. If the game makers didn't do that, there wouldn't be a market for high-end GFX cards or systems........No Alienware, Voodoo, and other high-end system makers wouldn't even be in businees if it was the way that you posted.
