In the air. Just want Your Opinion PEEPS

Post by Ortega » Mon Mar 19, 2007 11:18 am

Arlight people I got off my butt and got the new computer case. just curious on what Socket set to go with. Not a fan of Intel over Amd, but it never hurts for a change. But give me some input on what socket. or even AMD or Intel. If you don't know how to build a computer STFU please. What I mean is dont just tell me INTEL. Don't make yourself look retarded. Oh. My current Socket set is the 939 from w/ amd chipset

Thanks,

Ortega

I really dont know why. Just because I want a new computer, I guess. It will take me about 2-3 months to do or less depends. I like 939 easy to use. If I go Amd I will use that but just looking for some input. I might go with this set up

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe (Unless I can find a better 939)
Cosair- 5400 2 gig to start (Might get four before its done not sure)
3- Western Digital Caviar 160GB 8MB Cache 7200RPM (I would like raptors but I can't find them)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 (above a 4200.) (thinking a 4400, need some more money money man)

Might do 2 XFX GeForce 7950 GT 512MB
or one XFX Geforce 8800 GTX (I might also do EVGA brand, either case it wont change the cards that much) But that will be the last thing to buy since they might have a 9 series..
750W Ultra Power supply SLI version
Liteon- DVD dr & also a DVD-RW
Off course the big 3 inch dish drive..YEAH YEAH
Will actaully buy Windows Xp (Maybe, that is a BIG maybe) {SCREW VISTA}
yea I will prob update some fans on the cpu but its all little things.

Thats what I'm looking at (if you say its over kill your jealous so STFU) its my money!!!
But let me know if there is a better socket set with intel, Not formular with intel that much. IMO I think 939 is a better set but it does cost more then 754 and M2

Hey Ort, since you have all this money to throw around on computer parts, mind buying me a new hard drive? ;)

I wish. I actaully am upgraded the on I have. Just going to get a 6200 evga card but I'm sending my old on to M3rc. Since he cant see anything from wave 18 one.LMAO. Maybe I will slip a hard drive in and send you one. We will see how my summer pans out. If I get a raise on which I asked for today we will see. But I do work a second job so I can waste my money. So alittle less playing time on the saturdays for the rest of the summer but the pay is worth it.

the reason i was wondering what your current setup was is because if you already have two gigs of ddr, i'd say stay with 939. the jump to ddr2 isn't worth it unless you get an unlockable conroe.. and since you can only change the multiplier on the high-end conroes, your looking at some big bucks.

if you currently have two gigs of ddr400, stick with 939 and spend the extra money on a (640M version) 8800gts. or go nuts and spend the $700-whatever on the 8800gtx. either way, don't get the 7950. :D

or get a whole new conroe system and give me your 939 gear. :hwsb2:

yeah I thought about that also. But I only have 512 X2 cosair right now. Plus my wife is taking the computer. or I have to get her a Laptop. We will see the outcome on that. I dont want to buy some crappy laptop but I can't build them. I break shit since its smaller or just say F.I..

I have a AGP board from abit. Can't think right now. But I got the 3800 CPu from amd and a 5700 Le from EVGA. It works. 1 G and a one hard drive. I got my board like a month before PCI E came out. Tried to return it and the store was only going to give me back 50% because they said it was used. B>S> because it was in the wrap still. I got my crap (IMO it is) when it was top notch and the 6300 was the best Card out at that time. Just came out I think or around the time I got mine.

Yeah I'm looking at around $1500-1600. But it would cost around 4500-6000 in a store to have dell or someone other waste bag company to build for me.

So you think Im going to stay with AMD. but the M2 socket set it cheap $$ wise but compaired to the 939 not sure if they savings are worth the quality! FUDGE HELP ME OUT> LOL

Edit

I did some looknig and I need some Confirmation but Intel seems to use the MHz Memory better and I know the CPU are about the same. Unless there is a board for amd that runs the memory better. LET ME KNOW
