UT Cache Cleaner problem

Post by Snotshot » Thu Nov 06, 2008 3:33 pm

Hey guys, I had taken a couple years off from playing UT and Im trying to unpack my cache again.

Now before i quit playing I used UTCache for UT2k4. It worked fine until now. Every one of my files gets this error, and doesnt move the files to their respected location.

"1=DM-VSK-Hellsarena2.ut2 does NOT have a known file extension and cannot be moved"

Every file in my cache gets that error.

Any ideas that would help?

hi

2 possibilities i know,

1. you made the same mistake like me and forget to update the old ut99 or ut2k3-cache extractor to the "final"-version, which can do all 3 versions, ut99, ut2k3 and ut2k4,

or

2. if you have the "actual" extractor, maybe you forget to click, which of the 3 versions you want to be running. if its set to ut99 and you try to get files from ut2k4-folders then i think this could be reason for that errormessage too cause some file-endings changed from ut99 to ut2k3/4.

maybe theres a third possibility about generally wrong pathes, but i think this wouldnt explain the wrong file-endings...

maybe you try "install" new version, if you need link, "my" used "final" version is here:

ah, this appears when your cache.ini (text-file) contains the names
of "downloaded files" and their ??? md5-key ??? (or hwta ever its called), but your ut auto-deleted the (?unused?) files by default after 30 days (can be changed in user.ini or ut2k4.ini..toö lazy to look for it) and, hmm.. dunno for some reason didnt delete the text in cache.ini, but cant just remember if thats ok or if its anotehr reason, like pc crushed and ut couldnt delete ten...

so these non-existing files cant be found and "restored" and moved into correct folders..

sorry just too tired to think about..3am...but hope its ok so far
