Server crashes today we let it happen
Most of the day today we were getting packet loss and weapon loss aroung wave 13.When these maps got like this a begged people to vote so we dont crash. Many people did like pop and some high lvl people others were too selfish to vote because they need there 1000 points soo bad. Many played with me today i can attest to the noobs saying no to vote out map.I also warned them that the server might crash but they just didnt care.I wonder if those noobs who refused to vote out now believe me?People if we can help from a server crash we owe it to ourselfs to vote out when maps get like this. Those 3 noobs that argued about voting out ill make sure when i get a chance to keep you from those 1000 points since you helped crash server! Its just 1000 points you can get that any givin wave no need to take 1 and half hour to watch 1 person play.

"Server crashes today we let it happen" bad boy border2 (hmmm... guess thats your new nickname: "bbb2") :-)
i dunno whats going on last time but it looks like server is more and more
frequent without admins. i know its often enough a "having-(no-)time"-problem. admin isnt a 24/7-job, its more a hobby. but the more admins
arent online the more this crap could happen.... i dunno if its possible to create/programming something which recognices tooo many weaponlosses or tooo many players running around "with no weapons" and force mapswitch automatically.

if you would read the bug-report-section you wouldnt ask about a server-change.Archangel wrote:I think we should look at this from another view and ask this question "Why is the server crashing specifically and is there a fix to prevent it from occuring?" Is it the server company or what? Maybe changing to a different server would help.
lets see this in another view:
if the map is buggy, what has a servercompany to do with it when it come to a crash?
if someone is hacking the server, what has a servercompany to do with it when it comes to a crash?
if players are bugged and playing without weapons cause of weaponlossbug, what have a servercompany to do with it when it comes to a crash?
and so on...
and no, there is no fix untill noone can say what forced this crash. noone can say if it was a map-problem. noone can say if someone hacked. noone can say if YOU, archangel, used a fkn-buggy skin or a non-default-voice-pack, which maybe can be a reason for a crash (my opinion, see bugreports too). noone can say server burned down. w/e, we have to wait till joey announces the news...
and as long most only cry about a sh!t-server(provider) and about a buggy mod or map or what-ever, but noone is able to think about what happend, and what could be a reason for that and noone is helping and try to report anything about that in bugreport-section of this forum, doesnt matter if it looks senseless/worthless/idiotic/odd, as long there will be no fixes or new patches!
does anyone have a log-file from the LAST played map when it crushes?
i guess not. most of you crybabies didnt know it exists and can help lookin for some bugs/errors or w/e the problems are. the problem is, every time you restart your ut, the last logfile will be deleted, so thats i bet is the reason why noone again has this file ....

I give props to the person who lasted an hour an a half on their own. Now for everyone else who died, well thats their problems too. If their were 3-4 people bugged.. well than thats no reason to vote on wave 19 because those 4 people couldn't get the kills, theirs still 12 other players in the server who could of enjoyed that map, or just wanted to wait that one more wave.border_2 wrote:Most of the day today we were getting packet loss and weapon loss aroung wave 13.When these maps got like this a begged people to vote so we dont crash.
The server was going to crash regardless of the vote, We've tried it before with switching maps, still the same. Dust was even worse than that(later in the day). After we voted still nothing improved.
You can't the blame people who wanted to wait out the last wave for crashing the server, several maps later.

Ahhhh................Amy, I've admin on many UT servers over the years [GU], {HTC} and Axe's servers and you make the server work, not make the players work out the problems by not using custom skins or not using certain weapons at certain levels. Sometimes it's just a long period trial & error to isolate what's exactly going on.Amy Infless wrote:if you would read the bug-report-section you wouldn't ask about a server-change.Archangel wrote:I think we should look at this from another view and ask this question "Why is the server crashing specifically and is there a fix to prevent it from occurring?" Server Crash
I think Archangel is right. As far as the bitching goes, nobody really has any grounds to start pointing fingers and complaining because the Admins arent the only ones that have a responsibility of keeping the server running. All the people playing need to learn to report errors and problems and provide the Admins with more than just a "It crashed" post cause im a litlle bit of a techy and when i try to fix peoples computers i cant fix it by them saying its messed up. they need to know when it happened and what u were doing when it crashed. they also need to know about any error messages or like arch said logs that were created because those tell the Admins most. Just try to give them a little more then "It crashed."

Re: Server Crash
That's the ticket right there.......We, as a whole need to report regularly as to the types of issues that go on.Sneak wrote:I think Archangel is right. But, I think the server issues are a combination of a number of things:
* Certain mods not playing well with other mods
(conflicts).
* Bad maps.
(texture issues, maps that have alot going on, monsters getting stuck, too many spawn points etc.)
* Certain players downloading while playing.
(using up bandwidth)
* People playing outside the U.S.
(higher ping-rates, although from what I've seen the ping rates are at a good range from the people overseas)
* Server company not maintaining allocated bandwidth.
