Well, to put it simply...furry means any kind of animal with human features. Bugs bunny, Daffy duck.....pretty much all the Loney toons cast, Amy the Squirrel, ect. I think the word anthropomorphic means the same thing.

nuuu, furry as in the subculture is not an animal with human features, and anthropomorphism as you define it is just part of the definition. normally, anthropomorphism is giving human qualities, descriptions, and motivated behaviors to an animal. it is something to avoid using in animal studies in the field.

as for furry, one will hear a million definitions for it and explained in so many ways. i am not going to give my definition for it because i don't need to be seen more odd to you guys than i already am. anyhow, when not on the server playing, i hang out among the furry kind online. i could be called one perhaps..but normally i am a black and gold dragon, hence, no fur

anyhow, here is a picture of me hanging with friends as i type this. you can guess which one i am :}

Hmm, ive been a bit of a fan since..well, a while. I think i was in like....7th grade ....so like...10 years ago....when i first logged onto Furcadia, its actually weird seeing ads on this forum for furcadia. I was just a graphical chat and not much else, though the graphics are more Diablo 1 than what you got there. The name Knave Skye actually origionated there, until then I prefered the moniker "Prince_Of_Chaos" which had roots in my Warhammer 40k obsession at the time. Im curious what you are on there? Is that Second life? I heard you can do alot with that one, but that may be something else entirely. It was only about a year ago that i had to finally throw away my furcadia t-shirt that I got when I Purchased the dragon avatar back when they first came out. I think my liking of Furry also lead to me chosing a wolf skin as my main in game model.

i went to furcadia for a couple days, but i was not happy with the limitations of choosing one's avatar..and to have wings or be a dragon there one had to pay real money. i think not! the graphics and movements did look like diablo, but less crisp in the sprites. needless to say, i just went back to irc.

the place is second life. there, one can do a ton of things, socially or creatively. you use basic shape objects called primitives (cube, sphere, cylinder, tube, torus, etc) and modify them with the in-game 3d modelling tool to cut, change taper, resize, create hole, etc etc and one can apply textures or pictures from in game or ones you upload or simply just color and add light sourcing, flexibility, or shininess to them. gestures there are much like zsounds on a ut server, that are activated by a trigger sound. one can creat them to include a sound and/or animation. usually, they are pretty annoying as many spam them, but some make for very good humor or effect. like if i type in purr in public chat, i will make a purring sound immediately.

the game also appeals to techie types, for there is also a scripting language too to use in game. from what it looks like, it seems to be a bastardized-hybridized c++-java type environment. here you can affect anything and everything in the game using scripts...and yes, some geniuses have caused the while grid to shut down from malicious scripts that do thing..like infinitely, rapidly replicating prims that clutter the entire second life world.

i build and do simple scripting, but the majority of the time i hang out with those who have becoe my friends and just talk, cuddle, joke around, and have sexual interaction. the latter can be accomplished either by regular rp text alone, or the use of scripted objects that play synced animations after you and someone else (or even more <,,<) sit on the object. there is some pretty amazing interactve times that can be had in such a false world. when in front of the computer i can't surf the net or play ut2004 all the time

so this is how i fulfill my social needs these days since i despise bars (because i worked in bars from age 19-22 in horrfic conditions installing/maintaining beer, liquor, and soda systems) and the friends i had in my teens and early twenties are either in the military, moved far for their jobs, or became married and relocated far away.

as for being perverted...i am sure most of you have your special kinks and fetishes you'd never tell anyone you aren't very close to. regardless, i am as flirty and playful there as i am on this server when spectating :} anyhow, nard is more perverted than i...and i love it <3

Yeah I tried second life way to much work and typing for me

otherwise it might have been more fun. The 10 mins I spent att the strip club was good enough for me

And yes you can do almost anything in that game It was on the news not to far back where obama is holding virtual elections there circuit city os opening up a virtual store there and there have also been terror attacks on second life lmao . Yes it is a entertaining world...even if you are jus watching.

not entirely true... "fur" can also refer to anything having a furry texture...

ie: "fun" or "faux" fur - you know, that poly-chemical stuff costumes are made out of

and then there's the stuff that grows on your grilled cheese after leaving it under the fridge for a week or two.

And then there are peaches... oh wait... that's "fuzz"
