disabling previously played maps for a longer period of time

Post by draegohn » Wed Aug 29, 2007 10:25 pm

overplayed maps...way too many overplayed maps. i suggest that maps that have been played be unselectable for map voting for 48 hours time. this server hosts tons and tons of maps and it seems that overall, the same 10-15 are always chosen. i don't know why if this is due to familiarity of those who don't know maps, or because people know there are hiding spots and a certain map can be won more easily than others. either way, it feels so much that things get repetitive and stale and when a person actually chooses one of the lesser played maps, someone always has to vote a map they recognize and then others quickly vote for that because they probably have a fear of the unknown or something -..-

All of the good maps (like 40 of them) were taken off the server after they failed the map analyzer. During the time the maps were on the server i didnt even notice the lag difference between the custom maps and the maps we got on now that look like this.

.... 3 levels with paths leading up, you can even throw some fancy designs in there. Of course there are a few exceptions but the majority of them are like this. I would rather have the maps back, with a little more lag than play the same old type of map over and over.

I never thought too deeply on this, but having maps unselectable for longer period of time would be nice. I guess I'll start voting more frequently now, I normally don't really care but I do enjoy a nice scenery change.

To me its always seems like the same maps everyday.
Although there is at least 100 diffrent maps we same to play only 5-7 diffrent maps

We have all Had Days of Training in Training Day
And DoD Dust is a Curse that doesnt go away
and blood the map everyone votes for then gets to and goes wheres all the weapons?

I know not all 100 maps are good or even playable but at least look at em

I voted for sumthing yesterday i forgett he name only played 9 times everyone got mad cause they never been there ...so..... LETS ALL VOTE TRAINING DAY!! ::sigh::
i can do he same thing everyday just as much as the next person. But then wheres the variety? Oh yeah I forgot according to all the new 2 month old vets here this is strictly a INV server not a CB or CTF or Sniper
Jus INV , I 'm pretty sure the whole time I've played here it has been a variety server unless joeyz changed it on me

And Not Get Wet ......Ice Cube

I think I am going to make a new resolution - if I am in the mood for INV instead of CB, and plan on voting INV, then from here on out I plan on voting for a map with less than 5 (or maybe even 10) plays. Sure, chances are I (nor many others) will know the map very well, but it will at least relieve some of the duldrum of playing the same maps over and over and over again (I can't believe people even VOTE for Dust, 'cuz it was JUST the default map barely a month ago!)

And just to re-iterate, if I've voted for CB and the vote it something like 7-4 (or something equally defining) then I will switch my vote to INV because I don't like making people (self included) wait for the mapvote to time out.
I will consistently sacrifice political correctness for an attempt at humor. If ya can't deal, then ya need ta stop being ign'ant.
