I onlu need a few more things to add to my system to make it the UBER RIG:

* Add another 8800GTX for SLI.

* Add 6gb of uber memory (my mobo supports 8 gb)

* Add Windows Vista 64 (Windows XP only supports 4 gb of memory)

* Add water-cooling system for massive overclock to 5ghz.

Then my system will move from T-Rex status to GODZILLA status......heh

I have 4 gig right now. and Vista 64 bit also. I haven't played with overclocking though on my CPU or GC. Maybe oneday I will be board and just test it and run the test again. I don't think I want to keep the overclcoked settings high unless I can keep them cool it a Water Cooling system.
Later all!

dont you think that 4gig and 8gig is a little overkill? i know that you have that undescribable desire to make it the best (cause i do that with my machine) but i run 2 gig and never have any problems with any game...i have heard from several techs and computer peeps that 4gig is overkill....cant even imagine 8gig lolol

It wasn't that long ago that people were saying that 1 gb of memory was overkill..........naw, not overkill, just programs becoming more complex and need higher requirements.

8 might be a little overkill, though I'm seriously thinking about 4gb to get rid of having to use a page file on 2gb.
arch you got me beat with that quad core, and i think you have a slightly better mobo since i can't quite (and i do mean by a hair) get my fsb quite that high and remain stable
specs: dual core intel e6600 @ 3.1ghz (1372 fsb)
2GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-12
nVidia GeForce 8800GTX
and yes i totally agree with the uberrig of pwnage, but teh monies man, teh monies! that i don't have :(

Quester.........try these settings in your BIOS.......

Just use the settings in the "System Voltages" and "FSB & Memory Config"

thanks for the tip arch! i boosted the northbridge and cpu voltage by the lowest step my bio would allow, and now am stable at 1400 fsb. intel's TAT is reporting an average of 49-52 C under a load and i'm content with that for now. again thanks for pointing me over there ;)

Hey, anything to help.......what was your final overclock up to??

EDIT: That's the biggest benefit to this CPU........on air w/ decent HSF 3.27 ghz oc, water cooling 4.0 ghz and on Phase-Change up to 5 ghz is possible and all stable.

well final overclock, until i get new cooling for chipset and cpu, was a bus speed of 358.3Mhz (1433.3MHz rated) and cpu e6600 @ 3.2GHz
if i was the only one who used this pc i might tap it a tincy bit more, but TAT is reporting 58C under a load intel puts the thermal spec at 60.1C
so...yeah. q6600, a 680i mobo, and a water block is going to be my next financial goal ;)

was fun thanks for the help
[for now goes out to office max to get teh cold stuff to clean heatsink]
