Calling all Cell Phone Users...

Post by Nard » Sun Sep 23, 2007 9:14 pm

No, i dont want ur guys cell phone numbers... *PISST PM ME IF U WANT IT :)*

Anyways, i was just seeing where you guys normally get ur ringtones if u get any at all.

i get my ringtones at www.phonezoo.com

Its quick, easy, and fast to make, but dont normally deliver for a few hours. But you still get to customize anything u want and its pretty sweet.

Any phone that has bluetoothe capability can have custom ringtones. Simply set up a bluetoothe adapter to communicate with the phone, then if the bluetoothe's software doesn't have a file transfer app set up a a ftp program and add the address for the phone followed by the bluetoothe passkey.

Depending on the phone determines on the type of ringtones you can add. But most new phones will allow mp3's.

It won't work. Trust me people have tried that and failed. It will only recognize it as a media file for my music player.

Well like I said, it depends on the phone. Some phones use .asm as ringtones you would need a program that turned audio files into those.

But most newer phones will use a variety of formats. My moto razor uses mp3, asm, and midi(vomit) as well as a few others I think.

One other thing I forgot to mention, it greatly depends on where you put the files. It needs to be in the same folder as the other ringtones and some phone types set that folder to hidden.

I have never tried it on a sidekick. However a brief look around the net tells me they don't support mp3's but they do support a few other unmentioned filetypes. So making your sidekick use mp3's for ringtones could seriously screw other features up as often happens with hardware hacks because it would require a alteration of the OS.

alot of basic info on them...

Basically you can have custom ringtones on your sidekick. Problem for you is for some retarded reason they made it a giant pain in the butt.

You need to find out the file types used. Find out where they are stored on the phone. Then find how to access that area.

The os is java based so fairly easy to work with. My guess on the reason for no mp3 support is greed. They can't sell as many ringtones if people can just upload them.
