I'm looking at getting a 22" LCD monitor since this one decided that the pincushion look in "in" :D

So what should I be looking for as far as response time, contrast ratio, brightness, etc.

Looking to stay around $250. Yes I've been looking at newegg ;p

Oh and I have a geoforce 7300 graphics card (can't upgrade it and get the monitor) so keep that in mind.

Also I can live with a 19" if the card won't run a 22" ;)

Let me ask you this........

What are your system specs and what type of card slot are you running (AGP, PCI-E or PCI-E 2.0)?

Here's a cheapo 22" that has got some good reviews.

Well, since your on a budget..........I'd start with getting more memory.......like around 2gb (mem is pretty cheap right now) and then get yourself a decent vid card (the reviews for the new ATI 4850 say this card is the best bang for your dollar)........then work on a new monitor.......That should get your system back up to snuff without going the whole 9-yards with a system build-up.

I have 2.5Gigs of memory already ;) The 512Mb is the video card memory.

Can't get both a new card and monitor and this monitor is done for. It keeps pin cushioning (sides bow waaaaay in) and flashes brightly a few times and then goes off.

Zombie...you scare me! It looks like you spent your entire fortune on a rockin processor...don't go "budget" on the other stuff..LOL!

My pc was custom order from HP. I get the mid-high range processor, mem, etc. But I never get the sound or video or additional memory when I order it from them. I always do my own after market addons. Of course I'm still waiting for that Smokin system that Archangel promised me like a year or two ago when he was still building his. How dare you go back on your word :@ lol

Your GPU processor specs look quite similar to mine. I've got the GeForce 7600 GS HD 512mb AGP. Why would you think your card couldn't run a 20" monitor? Even if the card doesn't have built in support, I'm sure that between the monitor and your vid card...one of them has a feature that will help bypass any issue.

LoL Beaver :D

The processor is actually old but has hyperthread technology which my older one did not :)

I'm quite happy with the system as it is .... for now evil It's just that damn monitor of mine dying on me.

I found the max resolution is 2048 x 1536@75Hz and the psu should be 250W. I've got a 350W psu in there now so I think I'll be alright :D.

Now to find a monitor. I'm still confused as to why some monitors with a higher contrast ratio cost less than some with a lower contrast ratio doh
