Server System Requirements?

Post by Sirfy » Sat Sep 30, 2006 12:24 pm

Thought this might be a good thing to add somewhere on the forum...

Stating the best minimum requirements for your computer, and the best settings for the game to make the server run its smoothest.

I know i'd personaly love to know, because I'm still trying to figure out my problems inside the server. I've done about as much as i can think of.

But either way, it might be some good info to put up to let people know with lower compy stuff and different settings, might make the server run differently for the person.

Just a thought ^_^

well what do you have in your pc?
if you have good parts you may only need to update your drivers but also check your internet connection.

I didn't mean for the game.

The server has ALOT going on in it at once and seems to require different setings.

Not sure what all makes a difference, but I have a GeForce 6800 Ultra graphics card and a Broadband internet connection.

I just reciently reinstalled the game to fix a default skin error, also hoping maybe it would fix my problem in the server as well. No luck.

How many processes do you have running in your system tray? To many can lag your system taking up system resources. How much ram do you have and what type and brand name. Cheap ram can drag some systems underload. Do you overclock your vid card? Is it overheating a bit? Do you have a good power supply?

Plus what do you ping to the server? Check your connection by doing a speed check. Have you updated your nvidia drivers, motherboard drivers and bios updates if possible? Many things can cause lag on a system. With all thats going on in the server anyone of these can cause this.

Before you reinstalled did you delete the UT2004 folder? Did you patch? If so try doing it again. Have you defragged? I know this is alot and some may not apply but these are some of the things I would look at.

I have my settings on normal-low for that server alone. Not needed in any other server in the game I go to lol.

When I got the parts to build my computer, I made sure it was all good stuff and not cheap stuff that might cause problems. I only have 1gig of ram though. Getting more as soon as I am able to (but I only have the game and xfire running at once, so no problems should be there)

May be my hard drive, since its only a 30gig (have about 12gigs free right now. Should be more than enough for the game to run smoothly)

and my connection is a bit fuzzy. I may try reinstalling again tomorrow, but being more careful about it. Haven't been there in 2 days, so I dunno if it has gotten any better or not.

Ty for the help!
